Around that same time, rumors surfaced that he was recruiting Patterson to Ole Miss while they were taking their OV's to LSU.

Good ole recruiting rumors. Don't believe them.

I don't get why some people are down on this guy. He is a GREAT athlete and could play multiple positions if he doesn't pan out at QB. He is FAST for his size. Hell, I think he was clocked around a 4.6 at 270lbs...

247 loves him, they rated him a 95 rating overall prospect. Seems to be the only service that thinks he is elite.

I like the pickup and presence in Miss. We need to raid Miss and Texas more. We could probably hand pick anybody we wanted in Miss with how crappy MSU/Ole Piss are...

This class would be pretty damn good if we landed Alexander or Patterson. That would be a hell of a finish. I doubt we get Patterson though.

An Ole Miss buddy told me last week that the word from one of their sites (I assume Rivals, that's the one he belongs to) was that Liggins weighed 290+ when he came on his OV to LSU and we pretty much moved on at that point.

Not saying that is true, just repeating what I was told by someone who was repeating what he was told by someone who may or may not know.

Clarion Ledger in Jackson is reporting Liggins to LSU...of course, I should say they are reporting 247sports' Terrance Metcalf (former Ole Miss O-lineman) is reporting Liggins to LSU.

No, 247 nailed it. They're the only one who has actually seen LSU prospects with a national recruiting analyst. Not surprisingly, we're rated the highest on 247...

247 is going to blow away all three pretty soon, IMO.

I am gonna give 247 a few years to see how their ratings pan out.

I keep seeing this argument being made. Is there any evidence that 247 is superior OTHER THAN the fact that LSU recruits are rated higher by their service?

They don't have all the assets like other sites right now but they do have the personnel. Most of the staff is from when Rivals was in its prime and the superior service. I think Shea is also going over to 247, which is win in my book.

Once they get everything molded out, like better forums, it will be the best site, IMO.

Simmons seems like he is the only guy that EVER gives LSU and Louisiana any due to their scouting. He did it on Rivals and he is doing it for 247.

96.3 radio update on Liggins. Matt Wyatt on Sports Talk Radio and former Ms.St. QB, just said Liggins is going to LSU. The story is, Liggins said he grew up in Ms. and was tired of it and wanted to go out of state. He got mad at LSU on the official visit when he did not get a full scholarship offer that week-end. Then when Gunner Kiel didn't come, a QB scholarship became available. ONLY within the last 2 or 3 days, LSU came back and offered a full scholly and he accepted. He said he wanted to be a shot-gun QB and if can't pass, then be a big running QB in the tradition of our running backs offense. That's the story they are saying on the radio now at 4:30. We'll see [or hear] at 6:30. I'll let this site know at 6:30.

247 employs most of the respected former Rivals analysts. Also, Barton Simmons is regarded as the best among the national guys in covering Louisiana (but again, that may be because he usually rates LSU guys well).

What people forget is that Sonny Shipp is now a regional analyst for Scout, so there's no doubt that our local recruits are getting all the talking-up help they can there, as well.

Timing doesn't make sense. Liggins' OV was after the Gunner no-show situation went down. We knew whether we had a QB spot open by then.
