If Miles had a personal problem with JL and wasn't going to play him, then he should not have let him dress out and be on the sidelines. So because of some personal problem, Miles through away a chance (unlikely as it may be) to win the game and a national championship. That does NOT make him a hero in my book. How about the other 60 (?) members of the team that we throw under the bus by losing the game.

Pressure from certain players on the team who wanted JJ. Miles caved.

Lee did not want to play and Miles was protecting him. He couldn't play Mett because the fans would have been outraged that he played Mett instead of Lee.

That's my story and I am sticking to it!

1. reparations for slavery
2. Les feels picking JJ as the QB helps recruiting more than winning
3. Les wound rather give a kid a chance than allow his football team to lift a championship trophy
4. Les always wanted a son like JJ
5. Les is in the closet.

What could be the reason to stick with a inept QB, considering we had other options?

$5 Million dollars would put him in an unacceptable tax bracket

That was really obvious during the first 8 games of the season when we had something that actually resembled a college football level offense for the first time in years.

Agree, and those two months were something to see. An LSU offense that looked like they knew what they were doing.

Because obviously something happened between Miles and Lee. We dont know what it is quite yet, but it will come out eventually.

Like possibly his dad threatened to sue the athletic department over the rumor about Lee flunking out of school??? (just a wild crazy guess) Nuff said

If I had to guess, I believe JJ endeared himself to Miles when he was a wild eyed freshman who worked hard and said "yes sir." And I think Miles decided he was the QB to bring us the championship.

Miles saw the kid have spurts of greatness. A good bowl game performance, or two. And I believe, with good cause it could be argued, that Miles believed/hoped this was JJ's year to pull it all together and be that consistent QB. Big, strong, can run and pass.

Unfortunately, JJ didn't stand a chance against Saban. To be fair, any QB would have had trouble. Saban is the process coach, the coach that is obsessed with detail. Whereas, Miles is the more emotional driven coach. And it caused him to stay with JJ the whole game, maybe. just an idea.

As someone who has worked with youth leagues for many years, and coached hundreds of games, it happens. Sometimes the best player doesn't come through in the clutch. But if the coach believes hes the best player, they can't seem to see the obvious.

I say all this assuming there are no personal issues with JL.
