1). Lee was given the keys when JJ wasnt available. He was given a lot of time by the coaches. He was adequate but at times showed lapses. Both with his reads of the D for run and pass plays.

2). Lee began to skip class. This pissed off Miles

3). JJ offered a better chance to lead with his dual threat capabilities. And less turnovers.

Bottom Line Les felt Jj gave them the best chance to win. Period.

I get all of that.
However, instead of not playing Lee......why not give Mett a shot?

stats do not support this.
JL has the second longest streak ever as a tiger without a turnover.

Peddle your lies elsewhere.

It defies all reason and sanity what/how Miles handled the Jefferson/Lee QB situation. You will likely never witness such an epic (and consistent) failure as a coach in your entire life. Miles blew it beyond big. Watching LSU while J Lee was the QB was the most exciting and fun football I have ever experience as an LSU fan (50 years). Watching LSU while J Jefferson was QB was absolutely the most painfull. To see/hear the supporters and apologists for JJ was amazing. They even used/played the race card, which was beyond incredible. It was so obvious and clear who was the better QB. J Lee eventually became/was the leading QB in the SEC. And the SEC is by far the best league in the country. Think about that for a minute. And Miles did not play him 1 play against Alabama.

The only explanation (seriously - I have wracked my brain) is that Jefferson had some type of dark spell/force on Miles (and many others). Sounds crazy - but can you come up with a better one? I do not believe the team supported JJ the way the media led us to believe. That is BS. There is no way that our wide receivers could have prefered JJ risking their life/limb to injury the way he consistently did. They supported him because they knew that he was Mile's "pet". The simple fact is that JJ was TERRIBLE, HORRIBLE. You could flip the channel all day long on Saturday and watch parts of perhaps 50 college games (100 quarterbacks) and you would not have seen ONE quarterback worse than Jefferson!! He was ranked 109 out of 120 in the NCAA in 2010. And was ranked practically DEAD LAST (2nd/Next to last) in the SEC. He was worse than bad. What is perhaps more baffling were the supporters and apologists JJ had.

It is a mystery that will forever amaze and alarm. It does not make sense, but you need to prepare yourself for Miles to bench the pro-style Mettenberg and Gunner Keil QB style of play for the option/running QB (Randal I believe). Throwing the ball down the field successfully for big chunks of yards and scoring quickly.........having the game well in hand before half time (which is precisely what Jarret Lee did) will make Les Miles extremely uncomfortable. It sounds insane, but that is precisely what Miles did for the last 2 years by playing JJ over J Lee. Not even for a National Championship could Miles give up his pride (don't you ever boo me and/or tell me what to do), ego or yankee stubborness.

I just hope Mettenberger, Rivers, Randal and Keil have half the toughness that Jeff has. He took big, savage hits from future 1st round draft picks for 4 yrs and never wet his pants, never had to leave the field, never threw pick 6's! Football is not mortal combat but if I had to go into battle with someone I'd want it to be Jordan Jefferson!

I think that for the NCG Miles stuck with JJ because he wanted to beat Saban straight up, without changing game plans, without tricks. He probably thought that to go with Lee would be to change his strategy thereby diminishing his rep. I think he wants to be admired for the "brilliance" of his coaching decisions. Exact opposite happened.

I don't think Les ever entertained the idea of pulling JJ in the SECCG or the NCG. He was going to ride him to heaven or hell. I honestly think his fondness for JJ clouded his judgement.

Why Miles stuck with JJ is a really good question, but it all comes down to a personal failure on Miles's part. The 2nd Alabama game and the Georgia game speak for themselves. It's a failure almost any coach could have avoided. It's the equivalent of the clock problem against Ole Miss one or two years ago.

But there's a larger question here not being asked. Why didn't LSU have a better QB than JJ or JL? Miles has never recovered from the Ryan Perriloux debacle. When Perriloux didn't work out Miles had only JJ and JL to go to. Many, many teams have QBs better than these two. Even McCarron was better by the end of the 2011 season. Another bad decision was moving Russell Shepherd to receiver instead keeping him as QB--a great talent wasted out at receiver.

There are only two possible explanations:

1. Something drastic happened off the field with Lee.

2. When the cyst was removed from Miles' brain in 2000 the surgeon accidentally removed more than the cyst.

I heard that someone made a huge wager at a Vegas Sports Book that JL would not see the field at all. I cannot confirm or deny the validity is this rumor.

this seems to be spot on in the absence of any other explanation.
