The Brees fumble...

With all the bitching going on in that Falcons board posted and Schwartz saying in the post game that it was such a huge blown call... is absolutely absurd.
Why everyone thinks that if they don't blow the play dead it's automatically a TD is ridiculous. If you go back and watch the play... the whistle was blown literally right after Brees let go of the ball, because one official thought it was an incomplete pass. As soon as that whistle is blown you have Colston and a few Lions converge on the football with a Lion coming up with it... okay, fine, I see that.
HOWEVER, if you notice at the bottom of the screen... Meachem was not even trying to get to the football because he heard the whistle blow immediately... now where he was on the field, there's no way he could have come up with the football... but you bet your arse he would have made a play on the guy who recovered it.... he most definitely would have been tackled and not scored.
How people don't see this blows my mind. Sure it was a blown call in the fact that it shouldn't have been blown dead... but that doesn't mean the guy would have just walked into the endzone had it not been blown dead.
Gotta love all the crying and bitching from Falcons fans though... what little whiny bitches!

the thing is...with the play being blown dead it should have beeen ruled our ball...albeit challengeable.. so Detroit actually made out better with how the play was called on the field.

I noticed this as well. And besides, we got robbed of Colston's TD (that would have been a catch in SB 44-see LM's 2-pt conversion) so it's even.

I think you're right about everything but on the other hand, screw the Falcons board, who gives a shite what those pussies think.

I just posted the same thing on the More Sports Board. Too bad people in media and coaching can't understand what regular people watching on tv can.

Didn't get robbed of anything, Colston dropped it.
Someone knocked the ball out of Moore's hands after the ball crossed the plane. Colston dropped the ball after he hit the ground. Not a catch.

Agreed
IMO
When the whistle blew the play should have been dead at that point. Before the ball was recovered. Should have been considered Saints ball and it is not reviewable.
Inadvertant whistles are not reviewable

If you were listening they specified the rule last night. It was supposed to be Saints ball because of a inadvertent whistle.

The Ed hoculi rule would have ALLOWED the lions to REVIEW the call and award them the ball ...hence why I said ALBEIT REVIEWABLE. With the play being blown dead prior to recovery the saints would've been awarded the ball. Detroit would have challenged and won.
Actually read posts before talking shite.

First of all I was not responding to you and secondly the end result would have been exactly the same as the way it played out ... so how did the Lions come out better ???

They didn't have to challenge they were given the ball despite the play being blown dead prior to recovery.

THAT WAS THE INITAL CALL ....

But it was after the referee reviewed the play (between each other) .. Initial call was Incomplete pass and Saints Ball (that is why the whistle was blown in the first place)

Right and the initial call was done incorrectly. The whistle was blown for an incomplete pass PRIOR to lions recovery. THIS EQUALS SAINTS BALL.
The Hoculi rule would have THEN allowed the lions to challenge since there was a clear recovery and thus awarded them the ball upon official review that Brees did in fact fumble.
The original awarding of the ball to the lions after a blown whistle PRIOR to recovery was the frick up.
