Being that we are a mere 2 hours from NOLA why are the buses getting there 6 days before? I would understand the Saturday before ? Does anyone know the reasons?

because:
A-they get to practice in the dome and get acclimated to the positioning of the lights and feel and speed of the turf
B-they have media and community obligations during the week
C-why the frick not?

that's how early teams have to get to bowls. the players and coaches have media obligations and they get to practice in the Dome and Saints practice facility.

Even if LSU is so close, they still have to follow the BCS routine.

Like others said, they get to practice in the Dome, and Saints practice facility.

....It is because LSU is expected to be there. There are daily events, practices and news conferences schedules by the Sugar Bowl (host of BCS Title game).

LSU has earned this event. We can't short change them just because LSU is 80 miles up the road. The players and coaches should get to enjoy what they have earned.

LSU really has more control over the team in a hotel in New Orleans than it has over the team in Baton Rouge. Plus, Miles has done an oustanding job with past bowls in getting great performances from the team.
