Sorry if its been asked already but I don't quite understand the concept.
"The Tigers worked out against the Alabama scout team on Monday but also spent time going "good against good" in an effort to simulate the speed of the game in two weeks."
What exactly is an Alabama scout team?

Our backups, walk-ons, and younger guys portraying Bama's offensive, defensive, and special teams looks.

LSU has backup players and they were pretending to be Alabama players and running their plays. I did a lot of scout team work in high school

Members of LSU's team who do not typically dress out for games but practice with the team. Usually they learn the offensive schemes of the opposition and play against LSU's 1st and 2nd team to give them a feel for the opponent.

The scout team is made up of backup players that wear the jersey number of an alabama player they are trying to simulate and run alabamas plays. "Good on good" is the starters on both sides running their own plays

Watch Rudy to get a good idea of what a scout team is.

This... except I had read that Randall had been running the scout team QB, I am sure some of our young talent gets some good work in during "scout team" practice. Considering who they are going against, LSU's first stringers!!

I doubt Randall is the one they are using to simulate McCarron

I wonder what their record is against the 1st team

Rudy....Rudy....Rudy.... but a 3 to 4 star player..who can catch a coaches favor and eye by great effort. A player also get used to the SPEED of sec football...

They have his shoe laces tied together and they make him sit on his throwing hand between plays.

Scout team are usually 3rd string and redshirt guys, who practice against the 1st & 2nd strings, simulating the other teams formations and plays. Goods on goods is just what it says. 1st & second strings vs each other, usually in position drills such as "inside" 7 on 7's, and 1 on 1s between wr's & db's.
