I'm using both of these perks - first two I picked. I feel like I'm getting nowhere though. Running into super mutants on da reg is not very fun right now. Educated perk is great, swift learner perk is a total waste. I used that perk too when I first played, right after I used it I realized there is a level cap so I went back to an old save and used a different perk.

Try different missions if you keep dying at one.
