I'm sure there will be some sort of plea to avoid jail. I'm sure the FA will have his arse as well. Probably loses the armband at Chelsea as well as the national team's.

I suppose this is good news. He should be banned for the rest of the season, if Suarez's ban is the benchmark.

Well after Suarez's decision, I'm not surprised by this at all.
ETA criminal charges is still extreme. What is said on the pitch should be punished only on the pitch.
ETA2 The FA have decided to ruin reputations. Punishing a premier English footballer and premier foreign footballer.

Whatever Terry gets, he deserves. No excuse for it. Doubt it will be anything different than what Suarez got.

I have a feeling Suarez and Terry are being made examples of. At least I hope that is the case.

Has England not changed any of their laws since the birth of the greatest country in the world? How can you face criminal charges for a racial insult?

Absolutely. Like I said, punishing a top English footballer and top foreign footballer so harshly sends a strong message.

i couldn't find it, but he "racially abused" some black QPR defender

damn, the FA is going out like the end of The Godfather.
I wouldn't be surprised if they approach RvP and, in slow motion, drop a box of roses to expose suspension papers for his rampant Nazism.

I will bet anything, Terry faces less time off the pitch than Suarez's current ban (it may get reduced in appeal)...

According to Wikipedia, he called Anton Ferdinand a "fricking black count".
After the suspension of Suarez, that does need to be addressed, but, criminal charges, really?
ETA: And I am NO fan of Terry, but, don't see how he gets criminal charges when Suarez get's suspended.

No way. What Terry said was worse than what Suarez said and the FA will not put their reputation at risk. It will be 8 matches minimum.

Video footage circulated on the internet of an incident towards the end of QPR's 1-0 victory in which it has been suggested Terry calls the home defender a "fricking black count" as he retreats into his own half of the pitch.

It's criminal because a fan made complaint to the police.

you may be right, but we'll see. They are already saying Terry's maximum fine would be 2,500 (compared to Luis 40,000)...
Theres probably a reason why the FA handed this to the police, a way to "back door" protect their own...
yes, im bitter about this

But is this 2500 fine from the courts or from the FA? If convicted legally, he may have a fine and then another from the FA more similar to Suarez'.

How is this racist again? Does he have a history or something? Been reading up on the Suarez thread and this one and I'm a little confused.
