Have a Ruger that was given as a gift a while back....... No open sites..... Needs a scope.

What price range you talking about? Hard to go wrong with the Leupold, but keep in mind that there is a huge difference in their low end scopes and their high end scopes. I would go VX III.
Nikon Monarch can be a good cheap scope. Zeiss Conquest is another.
