1966 should need no explanation.

1977 is more subjective, but then again, for those who don't like the idea of Bama claiming a '77 title over Notre Dame, at least they have a major poll ranking them #1 from 1973.

FWIW, here are a couple of funny scores from 1977...

Sept. 17, Ole Miss (5-6) 20, Notre Dame (11-1) 13 (in Jackson) LINK

Sept. 10, Alabama (11-1) 34, Ole Miss (5-6) 13 (in Birmingham) LINK

By the way, Alabama's loss was 24-31 to a (9-3) Nebraska team in Lincoln. It also occurred on Sept. 17. It was a judgment call for the polls, but I see how Bama could legitimately claim that year similar to the way Ole Miss claims 1960 & 1962, and programs like Georgia & Tennessee claim NCs that are far worse.
