Per Robert Smith, I guess scoring 6 points and getting inside the 25 yard line one time is moving the ball very well, what a joke.

Yeah I'm confused at the definition of "well".

They got no where near the end zone. The best field position they had all night was in overtime and they still couldn't do anything.

they didnt move crap.

they had to resort to putting in a db to throw a pass. that should tell you all you need to know.

since when does bama of all teams have to resort to a gimmick play?

What you stated tells us nothing about how well or not well a team moved the ball.
What difference does it make to you what Robert Smith says? Does everyone have to agree with LSU fans about LSU?

Bama had Less than 300 yards. Lsu rushed for more yards. Lsu had 3 busted coverages that added up to 60 yards for bama. Lsu could have played better on defense.

I heard Joey Galloway talking about how good of a game TR had against LSU. He conveniently left out TR's stats in the second half of the game.

I have yet to hear anyone on ESPN mention that Alabama got into the red zone once. I'm not holding my breath on hearing that though.

If you take away a couple of facemask penalties on LSU, two of their first half drives would probably have much different outcomes.

They must have been watching a different game. I don't recall them getting inside LSU's 30 while LSU got inside theirs 2 or 3 times.

They did move the ball well, but not to any success. It doesn't matter how many yards you get on LSU because we don't care about that statistic. What our defense focuses on is to prevent the opposition from reaching the endzone and getting the ball from them.

5 of 31 rushes for more than 4 yards equals moving the ball well.

Bama had 114 of 295 (or nearly 40%) yards in the 1st quarter. They moved it well for 1 quarter where the home team should have the advantage.

Yes, between the 5 and the 30. I'm happy for them to have that all day long.

Too bad moving the ball well doesn't mean you win the game.

They moved the ball well until they got inside LSU's 30. Alabama had negative yardage in plays run inside of LSU's 25.

We stalled at the 30, no question. LSU's D certainly tightened up and give credit where credit is due. We also took TR out too much and stopped running the plays that got us there. Saban made mistakes; we should've punted or gone for it on several of those 4th downs.

All that said, we did move the ball a good deal better than LSU:

Flame away.

I was thinking the same thing Smith is a idiot and is still mad we beat The OSU and made him look stupid on Nov 5. What gets me you never hear him say how Bama was -17 yards inside the 30 or that LSU out rushed Bama in the game. I can't wait for Jan 9 and we do repeat of the rebeat.

Robert Smith and the Gumps don't understand the concept of "bend but don't break".....We shut them down when we needed to.

I think the fact that both teams had a virtually identical average starting spot on possessions is a strong indicator of how even the game was played. LSU averaged starting on its own 26, and Bama averaged starting on its own 27 - so field position did not disproportionately determine the outcome of that game. The Claiborne interception and return to the Alabama 15 was without a doubt the most important play of the entire game.

Time of possession was almost exactly identical (30:06 to 29:54, Alabama), penalties were spread evenly (LSU 7 for 56 yards and Bama 6 for 73 yards) and both teams struggled about evenly on 3rd down conversions (LSU 3 for 11, and Bama 5 for 13). They dominated us in passing yards, and we bested them pretty good in rushing yards.

No objective individual can dispute that, as stated above, the Claiborne interception was the game-changer. It's just a shame that given the ball at the Bama 15, our offense could not move the ball more than 2 yards.
