Just wanted to apologize on behalf of the (very) vocal trash-talking minority of the Georgia fanbase. The LSU fans I've met have always been cool and respectful, and I like to return the good spirit.

Though I am foremost a Georgia fan, I'm personally a huge follower of college football in general. I watch pretty much every televised game my wife will let me, and I've particularly enjoyed LSU's season (especially dismantling Florida). They're a really enjoyable group to watch. The defense is a wall (a very fast wall) and the offense, supposedly the team's "weak point," puts up big numbers in a huge hurry. Not to mention Les, of course, is one of the best characters in the game.

LSU and Alabama are clearly the two best teams in college football. By a lot. (You may take offense with including Alabama, but if the Game of the Century showed us anything, its that the margin that separates these two teams is RAZOR thin. I, unlike many, look forward to the rematch.)

I think the most likely outcome of the SEC Championship, like most realistic CFB observers, is a double-digit LSU victory. That isn't backing down or accepting defeat, that's not being afraid, that's intuition. But if Georgia is to even give themselves a chance, they need to play their best game of the season. They've shown flashes of brilliance, where LSU has shined all season long.

Sure, Georgia has feasted on a very weak schedule while LSU has dominated a strong one. But when things are clicking for this Georgia team, I think they can make it a game with nearly anybody. Hopefully LSU included.

That's what I'm really realistically hoping for. I want my team to play the best they can play. If they do that, and lose by 20 points (which, lets be honest, isn't unlikely), I'll be pretty satisfied. I remember feeling like garbage after the Boise State loss, because Georgia looked so flat, and feeling pretty OK with the USC loss, since Georgia played very well despite having a lot of tough breaks.

And of course, if Georgia manages the miracle and pulls the upset (which would require LSU playing a pretty bad game while Georgia plays a great one), I'd be thrilled. After the way this season started (and the last few ended), its clear the team has come such a long way. Its been a pretty good storyline for us, and that would make a great ending.

Maybe I'm a pansy hoping for a "moral victory," but I call 'em like I see 'em...and what I see is an LSU team that could give several NFL teams a run for their money.

I hope both teams play the games of their lives and we have an epic battle. That sure would beat getting obliterated by halftime.

Either way, enjoy the rest of the season, revel in having an all-timer of a team, and we'll see you on Saturday.

Go dawgs.

Root for your team, have a blast, and lets hope for no injuries and an SEC sweep in bowls. Good post. Brah!

Thanks for your well-intentioned post. It was good to read.

I'm friendly to UGA folk. You're a good school and always competitive.

Don't worry too much about your brothers and sisters spouting off at us, though. We're used to it. Remember... LSU is no shrinking violet at anything!

Nothing wrong with any of that.

Probably could have read the same post prior to the first LSU-Tenn SECCG from many LSU fans.

I'm confident in the final outcome, just not sure how we arrive at it, and hope to not see any major injuries on either side.

tl;dr

from the responses it seems like a nice and generous post so you get one of these

Also, I think the UGA posters on this site just doubled in the past few weeks. Where are all these UGA posters coming from all of a sudden.

Here's a wish for an injury free game.
MR has busted his hump this year, UGA should be proud of him and ya'lls team for holding it together and earning an SEC East Championship. But, now I hope LSU kicks you around the field this saturday.

thanks for the classy post.

I will be attending the SECCG with a Dawg Fan buddy of mine, so I will be in the middle of a lot of Dawg Fans, wearing my P&G. I have NO problem with dawg fans, or UGA. I hope for a thrilling game that rocks the Dome like never before. And injury free.

Here's to a great game!!

and

ETA: Y'all don't sweat RBL. He's just having fun. I happen to know he is giggling about it behind the scenes. I'm glad UGA is in the position to enjoy this after the way their season started.

For the most part the Bulldogs fanbase represent some of the best attributes of SEC/football fandom. I have been lucky to see two Bulldogs games in the last few years (ShreveportIndy Bowl game against Texas A & M and against Bama so i have seen them win by a lot and lose by a lot at home i might add) both times i came away with respect for the fan base...my BIL is a cop in Athens and as such he, in spite of being a fan of the Bulldogs has a lower opinion of his fellow fans because he sees the worst examples of drunkenness and debauchery...I for one miss playing Georgia...
