That is the only we can justify a rematch if it happens and Bama wins, otherwise, we are rewarding Alabama for not playing in the SEC title game and beating LSU only once to win the NC.
BTW, I think if a rematch occurs and Bama wins it will be looked at as a split.

Not a flame on my part.

But... all I hear from LSU fans now (after Bama beat Auburn just now) is talks of hypothetical losses/splits after possibly winning the SEC and going 13-0 makes us sound like huge pvssies and insecure. I really don't care if we play Bama again.

We will beat them again. Their special teams still suck and we play in the superdome.

The hell with a split title. Win or lose it has to be done in New Orleans on the field

Nope, the team with the Crystal is the national champ. Trust me, I have seen it posted on here a bunch.

I agree. Bama would have to make some kind of concession to even it up.

First, there was no split with any team in 2003. LSU won the national championship. In the BCS Era, there are no split national championships.

Second, in 1996, Florida State beat Florida in the regular season. The two met again in the Sugar Bowl. Florida won, and as a result, won the national championship. There was no split.

There is no such thing as a Split National Championship. When the season began, all BCS eligible teams agreed that the BCS Title game in New Orleans would decide all. Why is it that when things get close between 2 teams, people start this crap. Shades of Pete Carroll. They need to go play horseshoes.

There is 1 (one) Championship. Everything else is Barber Shop talk. What part of "1" don't they understand?

There is no split national title. It's BCS or bust.

Interesting question...if the AP did decide to give LSU their National Title if Bama beat us, how many of you would actually consider this a national championship? Would you still go buy a t-shirt that says LSU 2011 National Champions?

I don't think I could do it after all the shenanigans that we went through in 2003 with USC.

The winner of the bcsnc game is the champion. Period. No splits. Bama wins they are the champs. Lsu wins we are the champs. That's a real title game. Regular season is regular season. I don't want to be USC or bama and claim partial championships

There will be no "split" title. Winner of the BCS game is the champ.

I don't think it fair for a team not to even compete in it's conference championship game to play in the championship game.

All or nothing. But if AP wants to give up something, so be it. It'll be an asterik in my book, not a real title, just a consolation or footnote.

This LSU team is not losing, they don't have that word in their vocabulary

Oh and it's the BCS era, AP means absolutely nothing

This thread suck. If we lose in the BCS NC Championship Game we are not the NAtional Champs, plain and simple. We win the crystal ball, then we are National Champs. Just because we beat Bama in the regular season means nothing if we don't win the NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME! Quit fricking whining and do your part if your lucky enough to get in the dome. Yeah it sucks but those are the rules we agreed on when the season starts. Show me the rule that states otherwise. I was in BD Stadium for our win and as hard fought and tough an atmosphere that was, our fans need to make the Dome the same way in our favor.

It is a fact, not a matter of opinion, that Bama can only split while LSU can win again. There is nothing you can do about it unless you erase the Nov 5 loss from the records.
