2007 team was Damn Strong! Take a look at the final 2007 season AP poll Top 15, and the records of these top 15 teams when they played EACH OTHER.

(1) LSU 5-0
(2) Georgia 2-1
(3) USC 0-0
(4) Missouri 1-2
(5) Ohio State 0-1
(6) W Virginia 1-0
(7) Kansas 1-1
(8) Oklahoma 1-1
(9) VA Tech 1-2
(10) BC 1-1
(11) Texas 0-1
(12) Tennessee 1-2
(13) Florida 1-3
(14) BYU 0-0
(15) Auburn 1-2

Should be interesting to check similar records at the end of the 2011 season. GEAUX TIGERS!

I knew LSU had beaten 5 of the top 15 teams, but it's nice to see it when compared this way.

Up until this year I always thought that was our best team. We were beat to shite with injuries that year.

i hate this premise. i remember back to 08 when #4 LSU played @ #11 florida. LSU finishes with 5 SEC loses, florida wins out and wins the national championship. but dont worry-- we were ranked higher at the time

to me, the most important ranking is at the end of the year, look back, and see how many teams are ranked at the end of the year. the in season rankings are so fluid, they just dont hold the same weight as an end of the year, full body of work, ranking

Too bad your top 15 ranking doesn't include results against teams not good enough to make that top 15 list.

Like, oh, the two teams LSU didn't beat.

You mis-read the post. This is the FINAL AP Poll, at the conclusion of the season, and the records of how each team fared against the FINAL 15. This is not about in-season rankings.

i get the list is the top 15 of the final poll, but the records are at the time of the game, per the OP

By "when they played each other" the OP meant "against each other." It could've been worded better.

dorsey injured completely changed that defense. couldn't stop anyone once we lost that push up the middle.

tiger in texas, thag was the final ap poll. we beat tOSU, Tenn, UF, Auburn, Va Tech. we went 5-0 against the top 15. No one else in the final top 15 even played five games against top 15 opponents. tOSU, played 1, LSU. Shows how overrated they have been all these years.

I think you are reading too far into it.

Records when the top 15 played each other.

Not rankings when they played each other.

The games we lost that year still boggles my mind.

It's each schoosl record against teams ranked in the top 15 of the final AP poll. So LSU's 5-0 means they played and beat 5 of those teams on that ranking in the original post, which is the ranking fo the top 15 FINAL AP POLL.

Let's say Auburn was ranked 51st when LSU played them in October. That ranking does not come into play, because at the end of the season, the team was the 15th best team in the nation. So this is the best way to look at it.

After all is said and done, out of the top 15 teams in the country, after a season's body of work, LSU beat 5 out of the top 15 teams.

Hard to believe that talent-wise 2006 may have been more loaded. Can't argue with results, but no one wanted to face that 2006 team at the end of the year.

Exactly! dgnx6 understands.

Southern Cal got one first place vote, and finished #3 in the poll yet they did not even play anyone who finished in the top 15 in 2007. LSU had two OT losses in 2007, but they beat 5 teams that finished in the top 15.That is Damn Strong!

With the nice wins LSU already has after 11 games, it seems they are very likely to outclass the rest of the field again. We'll see.
Beat the HAWGS!!
