Was listening to The Herd (yes I know "He sucks c*ck" blah blah blah), and according to research, New Orleans is one of the top markets when it comes to watching the NFL.
Just some interesting info I thought I'd share with you guys.

Any specifics as to where they are ranked or who else is in their range? This would be interesting with some facts

It's Colin, he just talks and throws out a lot of arbitrary stats.

Not sure yet. I'm at work and every other site I try to check to verify what criteria is being used, gets blocked. I'll have to put up a link when I get home.
But he mentioned us first, then Pittsburgh, Philly, amongst others.

I believe Cowherd is referencing the share rating as opposed to the raw viewers.
When you consider raw # of households watching, New Orleans is not at the top of the list.
Where New Orleans scores is in its share rating... where the percentage of people watching a TV show at any given time in a particular city is calculated.
Put simply... on Sunday, people in New Orleans are watching the Saints. Period. They're not watching HGTV or BET or some shite like that. They're watching the Saints and little else.
It's just that the total number watching is smaller than other NFL markets.

Dead on. They brought this up last year with market %. New Orleans is either in top 5 or top 3 in sales.

exactly...
it has become a VERY EFFICIENT, PROFITABLE, small market NFL team that will not be going anywhere for decades at the earliest.

I'm involved in retail analysis on a national level. When the Saints are playing/on television, other than bars, retail sales in the Greater New Orleans area are virtually non-existent. Even taking into account market size as compared to the larger NFL cities, New Orleans is by far, the city that leads in terms of market dominance for home team events.

My friends who work in the hospitals told me during our superbowl run they were dead in the ER during games. No one came in because of zero crime and I guess if people had to go to the hospital they just waited until the game was over.

Saints and green bay also dominate nationally televised games

I remember my brother's wife was getting ready to deliver their daughter at the hospital during the playoff game against the Cardinals. The waiting room was taken over by with people watching the game. Heck, there were doctors and nurses that opened their window in the office to watch.

this is a perfect example of how we know the big easy knows how to party over other championship cities. the saints won the superbowl and all of nola was lit with cheers and fans, complete strangers hugging in the streets, parades, there were no enemies that night. fireworks in the streets, drinks in the streets, no damage just fun.
remember when the lakers won the nba championship in 2010 ? they partied hard. lit houses on fire. flipped cars over and lit them on fire too. fights in the streets.. yeah, they partied hard.
smh

don't have a link but I've seen the numbers
NOLA avgs about 82% of TV sets turned on during a Saints game are watching the Saints game, pretty amazing number. GB is in the 74% range and they do fluctuate but the lowest NOLA number I saw was around 78% of TV sets were tuned to a game
FWIW the Super Bowl was like 88%, just a huge number percentage wise

I'm not a saints fan and I can tell you that my friends and I are always watching their games. The saints have been very fun to watch the past few years

its because we were so used to blackouts that when we get to watch we do it

Growing up, even though we sucked post 92, I always envied the people who lived just past Baton Rouge because they got to watch every Saints game.
