Wing will probably get it just because he plays for LSU but Allen is without any doubt a better punter. The stats speak for themselves

How many yards rushing does Allen have?

Did you care about La Tech football at all before you made the horrible decision to go there?

Are you bandwagon fan...on a shitty bandwagon?

how do you hold that against allen?

could be he doesn't get enough hang time and it allows the other team to return the punts? Someone has to be downing those punts inside the 20.

I'd venture that its more to do with defensive superiority. When Wing pins back LSU's opponents they tend to stay back. LSU hasn't had the opportunity to gain as many yards because sadly they've had a short offensive field for a large # of possessions. 300+ yards a game working short field is ultra impressive. I'd also like to see the total distances Allen had to work with on his inside the 20 punts. Wing's been doing it from varying distances on less attempts.

Plus he got a TD called back for taunting a 2 time BCS champ. Did Allen do that?

so he out kicked the coverage, kicking it as far as possible is not necessarily the aim of a good punter.

53% of his punts have been downed inside the 20. Only 4 touchbacks this season.

The junior leads the nation with 32 punts inside the 20-yard line and 17 punts inside the 10-yard line this season.
No doubt, he's a fine punter. But, did he have more kicks than his competition? Just curious.

SEC bloggers but the comments are telling.

3. SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Brad Wing; P, LSU

quote:

RM: Brad Wing; P, LSU – As you know if you’re a regular reader, I’ve been high on Wing all season, and his pin-point punting kept the field position battle in LSU’s favor. Six punts on Saturday - zero return yards.

quote:

DS: Brad Wing; P, LSU – If it seems like I put Brad Wing here nearly every week, it is because I do..Wing had 6 punts - Alabama had 0 punt return yards. Of those 6 punts - 5 of them were downed at the Alabama 5, 4, 11, 18 (73 yard punt), and the 20. Incredible.

And here's another quote from the week 7 review:
quote:

RM: Brad Wing; P, LSU – 4 punts for 185 yards (45 per), 2 of which pinned the Vols deep. Through 7 games, LSU has only allowed 5 punt return yards...not per game, TOTAL

And one more from the week 4 review:
quote:

DS: Brad Wing; P, LSU - The return Marquis Maze made to open up the game to 24-7 was a huge play that took the wind out of the sails of Arkansas after half. However, Brad Wing - a freshman punter for LSU - mastered the art of pinning a team deep in their own territory as he punted the ball 6 times - totaling 292 yards. Wing’s 6 punts were downed at the WVU 3, 4, 5, 11, 8, and 9 yard line...Simply awesome.

Did you watch the video, the was just terrible coverage.

Wing is good, Allen is just better. By the time Wing is a junior he'll be better than Allen is now. At this moment though Allen is the best punter in the country and the stats behind him prove that. He kicks it further and has way more downs inside the 20 and 10 than Wing.

Wing would be something like the 4th or 5th best NFL punter right now as a freshman. That's a lot more impressive than whatever the hell Allen is doing.

How many inside the 5 does this Allen kid have?

Also, Wing basically negates any return yard because of his hang time. 7 return yards ALL YEAR!

Because I got tired of people posting the Wing is the best punter in the country when hes not even the best punter in the state.

I also thought it would be a fun debate.
