Ok. What I want to know is if LSU and Bama go to the BCSNCG, who goes to the Sugar Bowl from the SEC, if anyone?

I want to know how the system works. Bama would be a one-loss team in this scenario, LSU undefeated. LSU would be #1 in BCS, Bama #2. Lsu would have beaten UGA in the SECCG to give them two losses. Arky also would have two losses. Would the Sugar take Arky or UGA? I know the Sugar would take the SEC #2 if the SEC champ is in the NCG, but in the rematch scenario would Bama be SEC#2 and if so, how is it determined who number three is?

No more SEC team can go to a BCS bowl if that happens. TWo max.

I guess what I'm saying is that I see in this scenario where the Sugar could pick non-Sec team v At Large. Could this happen?

no SEC school

only 2 schools from one BCS conference are allowed in BCS bowls

No more than two teams from a conference may be selected, regardless of whether they are automatic qualifiers or at-large selections, unless two non-champions from the same conference are ranked No. 1 and No. 2 in the final BCS Standings.

So if UGA wins the SEC, but LSU and Bama stay #1/#2, then you could have 3. So essentially impossible.

I think if both the teams are in the NCG then I think another team can go to a BCS.
That may be wrong though.

As I understand it, the Sugar Bowl is not required to even take an SEC team at all when replacing the SEC champion when the SEC champion is in the title game. They have done so each time that the SEC champion has been in the title game, but the rules don't require it. The Sugar could select a nonSEC as the replacement team if they wanted to.It isn't automatic that an SEC team replaces the SEC champion when the SEC champion is in the title game. The Sugar has nevertheless chosen an SEC replacement team because the SEC team chosen is the best team available, ticket sales, etc., and tradition.

In the unlikely, but possible event that both LSU and Bama ended up as 1 & 2, even if the Sugar could select a 3rd SEC team (and it is unlikely that a 3rd SEC team would qualify under the rules), they very well may not choose an SEC team if there is a higher ranked team that would generate more ticket sales and national interest from another conference.
