On The Subject Of A Rematch

I stated before the game that regardless of the outcome I did not want a rematch. This ain't college hoops or baseball. It's college football. Win, move on.
The biggest problem with the way major college football determines it's champion is that it's not about crowning a champion. It's about trying to figure out who the best team is. No other sport does that. The other sports simply crown a champion. Was N. C. State really the best team the year it beat Houston in the NCAA basketball tourney? Hell no, but the Pack took home the trophy.
Bama may be the 2nd best team in the country, but it had its chance and lost last night. Bring on Stanford, Okie State or Boise. It doesn't matter to me, as long as the team LSU plays for the title, provided it wins its next four games, isn't a team that it's already beaten.

don't buy into the bcs so much. you must be a young one (no flame).
to me....it's make it to atlanta every year. 20 years ago, it was just a dream for me.

Bama is without a doubt the 2nd best team in the country. I will admit I would not want to play them again this year. Rematches never workout that well for the winner of the first game. Plus they are good.

Conjecture.

You're missing the point. Don't you think the 2 best teams in college football should meet in the superdome to decide the championship? LSU and Bama are the 2 best teams in college football. Do I wanna play them again? Hell no! But facts are facts. The 2 best teams should meet for the crystal ball.

There is no way anyone will convince me that we have to play an extra game (SEC Champ) and beat Bama twice, to win a National Championship... While they just have to beat us once...
bullshite! Any other Tiger fan that thinks otherwise, is retarted...

Agree. Come on y'all we tied and 'went to penalty kicks' for God's sake. Yeah, if its Bama again so be it!
Old LSU motto--Try Us. That means anybody. Any time.

I don't think Oregon beats Stanford at the farm. You will probably see Stanford or Okie state.

Personally I would rather beat another team. I respect Bama, just this is a historic season, a once in several generations type of season, let's beat someone new!

I said before the game that the loser didn't deserve a rematch and I stand by that.
They lost at home, sorry gumps, you're out.

Bama had their shot last night in their house with every advantage possible, they couldn't get it done! NEXT!!!

My freshman year at LSU we won a defensive struggle to hold on to our #1 rank (1959 LSU 7 Ole Miss 3). We had a rematch which neither the players nor the fans wanted - it was a disaster. I agree - we beat the second best team in the country last night, now let's move on.

And you're missing your own damn point. The best two teams did meet with one having a home field advantage, and it lost. Absolutely no justification in Bama getting into the NC now.
LSU losing on the road in the game last night had it been by 3 in OT made sense because Bama had the home field. But they beat them AT their place. Bama has no right to be in the NC anymore, especially when LSU will have to play an extra game too to earn that right.

No college football fan wants to see a rematch. I want to see Stanford or Okie State.

My point is there absolutely should be no rematch unless every other team has 2-losses and Boise loses a game.
It makes absolutely no sense that Bama can lose at home to LSU, and have LSU have to play in the SEC CG and then play Bama again.
Bama maybe the 2nd best team by just a smidgen, but they didn't win it when they needed to at home.

the road team imo has the better argument for rematch in a close loss.....
we beat them against all the odds stacked against us at their place in front of 100K people.
superdome will not be a neutral site anyway

There are rematches in sports, deal with it. The saints beat the Seahawks last year then get bounced in the playoffs by the very same Seattle team. Rematches happen.

we have already played.
...based on your concept, LSU would have to beat AL twice to get the title and AL only beat LSU once.

A Bama rematch will only drive up ticket prices. I want Stanford or Boise for selfish reasons, 'cause ticket demand won't be what and LSU/Bama game would be.
