I didn't think Vern was "all there" during the broadcast. He repeatedly pronounced Beckham's name "Beckman" (though he did pronounce it correctly a couple of times), and he attributed penalties to the wrong team. Perhaps it's just one of those things that happens occasionally as we age--I just think it wasn't "his day."
