yeah i just went back and read an article about that game. WM ran back a kickoff for a td right before the end of the half. The score could have been closer. This years jesuit team is much better, and if they met in the quarterfinals again this year, but at tad gormley...id put my money on jesuit

yes, Karr will win easily. Also to everybody in here doubting Jesuit, they are much better than you think. If Jesuit will ever win a state title(current, dont know about the old days), this is the year.

let's bookmark this post...

if some of those rummel teams made the semifinals, and one made the dome, jesuit can definitely win state this year

they are the 6th best team in 5A though, behind Carencro, Dutchtown, West Monroe, Acadiana, and St. Paul's

I will say that If Acadiana plays predominately running teams in the playoffs they have a really good shot at making a return trip. They are pretty stout. A team can definitely pass on them though. I'm looking forward to see how they do. Playoff time is usually when they turn it up a notch

Destrehan at Hahnville this week; can Desty lose 8 in a row? Hahnville has talent but seems to keep shooting themselves in the foot when they have a lead. Last week should have never been that close but they still won.

When Byrd meets Airline this week in its regular-season finale, the Yellow Jackets will be eyeing their first outright District 1-5A title since 1997. (Byrd shared the district title with West Monroe in 2002.)

If Byrd tops Airline, it will also earn its first undefeated regular season since 1996.

let's do this!!

Byrd is my favorite to win it all in 5A. It will be tough for teams to prepare for their offense with only one week's notice.

You do not want to play WM again though. Tough to beat a team twice.

Jesuit and Acadiana round out the final four in 5A IMO, assuming all four are on different sides of the bracket.

St. Paul's will flame out in the 2nd round.

U-High is going a long way in the play-offs, maybe all the way. The only roadblocks I see are(as usual) John Curtis. Evangel is down for them.

It's all about matchups, some teams can beat teams that are supposed to be better if their strength happens to be the others weak spot. Ex; a passing team meets Acadiana, supposedly Acadiana has a weak pass defense.
Some upsets will happen in all classes.

Byrd needs to stop fumbling the ball and I think they have a chance to go deep into the playoffs. even if they have to play WM early. it'll be in Shreve.

and a sidenote: Byrd star QB Richard Carthon has committed to play baseball (he's an OF) at Cornell.

I am from Shreveport and keep up with the local teams on the internet. From the highlights, I have no idea why GT or Navy haven't offered that kid.

Carencro runs that. If you have the personel to run it it is very effective. They can win some games too, I won't count them out either. It should be a great playoffs as they seem to have a bunch of really good teams this year. They have about 10 IMHO that are really just as good as each other and anything can happen.

Us against Miller McCoy... win and we're in

Key games for us in week 10

Destrehan-Hahnville Destrehan winning will be important if they do so, as Hahnville is #31 currently in the power ratings

Northshore-Slidell- Slidell is last in this district, and a Northshore W will be important to bolster our power rating

Holy Cross-East Jeff- I have to , but that's one more power point for us if HC can beat their old coach and my old coach, and it would help them sneak in (thankfully not into 5A's bracket)

Lakeshore-Franklinton- a win, and Lakeshore can claim a district championship in their first season of playoff eligibility, as well as help our cause

Warren Easton-Riverdale- another win and you're in game for both teams in 4A Thursday night. Riverdale is trying to get to the point where them making the playoffs isn't newsworthy, but this Chalmette fan unfortunately has to root against them in this circumstance

East St. John-Bonnabel- ESJ can clinch a share of the district championship, but importantly for us, their win can keep Bonnabel from the top 32

East Ascension-St. Amant- East Ascension is in, but winning this rivalry game will likely keep St. Amant out, good news for us

Dutchtown-Catholic (BR)- Landon Collins doing his thing will keep the Bears from gobbling up the #32 seed from the actual #32 team

Higgins-John Ehret- if Ehret beats Higgins, and Bonnabel and Destrehan win, district 8-5A will look like this:

Ehret 3-2
Higgins 3-2
Hahnville 3-2
East St. John 3-2
Bonnabel 2-3
Destrehan 1-4

yes, another district champion WAY outside the top 32

other games for teams around us, like Central-Live Oak, Ponchatoula-Hammond, and Westgate-H.L. Bourgeois, are almost certain W's for the team we're rooting against

Don't worry ESJ and HHS will both win so Ehret won't be district champ. HHS-Desty is a fierce rivalry but without Ricky Jefferson, Desty doesn't have any weapons on offense. Valdin better win this one or he won't have to retire, he'll be run out of town.
