So, there is a glitch in Markarth where a previous quest leads to EVERYONE attacking you on sight in the palace. I had to talk to someone in there to advance another important quest, so I had to drink an invisibility potion and sneak up and initiate conversation before everyone tried to gank me. Whirlwind sprinting until I was outside of the city was awesome.

You sure it is a glitch. One of the quests has everyone attacking you until you agree to go to jail. I killed several guards before I realized I was supposed to let them capture me.

If you join the stormcloaks can you still join the imperials? I made it to winterhold and it seems like the Stormcloaks are racist kinda turned me away. Also does the game level with you as far as enemies because it seems like I am getting stronger but the enemies are not.

Help me out here. Very early on I start a quest in Whiterun where I first verify that some guys brother is alive, then we are to go and free him. Somewhere between starting that quest at around level 3 and levelling up to level 33 I decide it is now a good time to go and help the brother out.
Glass bow, glass arrows, and flawless enchanted light armor later I feel pretty confident...only to show up and get my arse kicked. What is the point in leveling up if I can still get my arse kicked in a quest I started at level 3?

Yes, but after I completed the quest the guards in the palace will still attack you on sight for some reason.

I noticed that when I tried to go back into the temple where they arrested me after I completed it. Those 3 guards who arrest you are still there and try to arrest you again.

Well they skipped the arresting part for me, just straight up tried to kill me. Last night, I approached a guard on the outside of the city and he tried to arrest me so I paid up and now everything is gravy.

I think the haunted house is technically yours if you want it. The daedra does tell you to take care of it.

I started a new mage-class character yesterday. What's the best armor for that type of character? Using robes or enchant light armor?

I'd say start out with the novice robes you get from the College, and stick with those until you can put really good enchantments on really good light armors. That is what I have done.

Think I just ran into a broken quest... Doing the haunted house one where I have to find the priest, well I found him and it says to return to the house, but when I do, nothing happens.
