"It's the same reason a Tide fan, or LSU Tiger fan, or Gator fan, or War Eagle cheers for another SEC brother when playing anyone else in any game...it's called a family. Kentucky and Vandy are accepted for all their faults because they are part of the matriarchal family which is SEC football."
That sounds awesome. What were used to is we allow you to be in our conference so lick our boots.
The big 8 was much more like the SEC attitude. Nebraska and Oklahoma were always on top but we all felt equal and there was not much fighting. I liken the Big 12 to being in an abusive marriage where you felt trapped and had no voice.

quote:Agreed. Probably the only reason the SWC broke up was the hated infighting among members. You would never ever find a SWC team cheering another SWC team. Talk about family feuds and it is still going on today with those who were abandoned when the breakup occurred.

One of my great SEC stories comes from the 2008 Sugar bowl. Georgia was playing Hawaii and the only national interest in the game was if the Bulldogs could stop the air attack of Hawaii.
I took my family to the game and we were dressed in our LSU attire and we sat in the Hawaii section.
We were asked no less than 20 times why we were there if we were LSU fans?
Our response was: "Here to cheer on a SEC brother!".
Everyone just shook their heads.
