I turned to my brother and did the quote from Major League after that one:

"Nice catch, Odell. Never fricking do it again."

I've seen him make that catch plenty of times on my old baseball team

It looked like some of the LSU blockers were pretty close to where the ball was going to land, I thought it was a heads up play to avoid the risk of the ball bouncing into one of the other players.

Great play but true freshman will make a mistake. It is a given. Bama will play field position and will hope to flip the field with special teams. Would let it bounce next time. Saving 15 yards is not worth the risk. Like to see TM7 or RR back there in a game of this magnitude.

I'm just glad it's him back there and not Trindon Holliday.

No shite. Not sure what he was thinking, but glad it didn't cost LSU at the time.

There were to many guys to wave off and it looked like it was going to hit an Lsu player. I thought it was an excellent grab, sure looked pretty

It was a heads up play by a talented player.

He had to make a split second decision where it was a grey area and he has the talent to do it.

Pocket Rocket's "huge, game changing play" to snap ratio has to be off the freakin charts.

116 Kicks and Punts returned, 4 for touchdowns - Every 26th kick or punt he returned (at all) was a touchdown (and I think he had 1 of each called back, so it could have been as many as 6, unofficially).

Similar numbers on rushing, every 25th or 26th touch was a touchdown.

Kinda strange how Gary and Verne played it off like he was making a great play so we would have great field position

I haven't seen the CBS broadcast yet. What did they have to say about it?

Exactly the opposite. He decided a long time ago he was making the catch, practicality be damned. He is young, will learn.

He showed maturity right there having confidence that he could make the play. His play and then Wing's punt were responsible for pinning Auburn back deep!

As a punt returner you are taught to not let a ball like that bounce.

The CBS broadcast said something along the lines of look at what happened when au let it bounce and Lsu downed it at the 5ish and compare that to obj catching a punt that would have landed roughly in the same area and Lsu got the ball on the 25ish because a freshman made a heads up play.
I doubt all of that went through obj's head at the time but it makes Gary look like he knows what he's talking about
