Boise St. And LSU wins against ranked teams

In 2007,2008,2009,2010, and 2011 Boise St. has beaten 5 ranked teams (including bowl games).
In 2011 LSU has already beaten 4 ranked teams.
Just something to point out the next time somebody brings up Boise St.

They will bring up Boise because of this very reason, because they never challenge themselves enough for anyone to definitively say where they stand using something other than their record which is usually undefeated.

Boise plays one or two good teams each year.
They are in the mountains of Idaho. They have no fan base.
They are hesitant to join the BIg East. Its 2400 miles from home.
I dont blame them. The west coast NFL teams rarely win on the east coast after flying all day the day before the games.
SF Niners stayed in Ohio after playing Cincinnati, and avoided the back and forth. College kids actually have to get back to class.
So.. they are not going to come up with a strong schedule.
They are in the middle of nowhere, and use a blue field as an advantage. I would not schedule a game there on a bet.

that's a little short-sighted.

Why in the hell is our fan base which is home of an elite team so infatuated with Boise? WHo are we trying to convince?

Not disagreeing with you RTS, but what gets to many is the thought that Boise could get in the BCS Championship game over a 1 loss SEC team.

I think this is too hypothetical for us to really worry about, imo.

I highly doubt Boise will get in over the SEC champion. The Boise infatuation has been going on for years now. We all know Boise isn't as good as LSU.

Agreed of course, but that is not the source of the "infatuation" IMO. Boise has absolutely no business being ranked in the top 6 and yet they are. People on here are infatuated with the infatuation with Boise.

It's difficult as hell to understand. Kind of like a doberman wondering why people are petting the dachshund.
In the end, things work out like they are supposed to work out.

Yep. It's like were in the midst of some sort of college football civil rights movement.

So far, I guess so. The BCS era has been kind to the SEC, no doubt. But at some point the BCS formula is going to put an overrated undefeated top 2 or 3 ranked team in the big game over a 1 loss SEC team.

Already happened, except the SEC champ was undefeated.

Excellent analogy! I agree. Affirmative action for Boise.

Unless big changes occur, don't see it happening. Isn't going to happen this year. I suppose I will jump on the "bitch about Boise" bandwagon when it happens.

Auburn?

Boise is not in the middle of nowhere, it is the center of the nowhere galaxy itself. To the west it is about five hundred miles to the Cascade range of Oregon, to the east about 1,000 miles to Denver. It is a desertous place that gets snow due to altitude.

Yep. Plus there have been plenty of times the BCS formula has screwed the pooch.

I hope you are right. But this is why people bitch about Boise. If we had a playoff, Boise's BS ranking would mean little.
