New Aggie SEC ad spots begin tomorrow - per Aggie VP Mktg+Commn
Posted on 10/7/11 at 8:46 pm

He posted on texags earlier this evening:
"As a follow-up to the "sneak peak" of our new TV spot that we sent out via Twitter (@TAMU) this afternoon, I wanted to give TexAgs some inside information as to what's in store.
Our objective is to reinforce the Texas A&M brand as a premier institution both academically and athletically among SEC fans.
Beginning tomorrow, you will see both :30 and :15 TV spots, as well as online placements, in the following media:
1. SEC games on CBS: We will have spot TV buys in the top 17 SEC markets (Atlanta, Baton Rouge, Birmingham, Columbia, Gainesville, Jackson, Knoxville, Lexington, Little Rock, Memphis, Mobile, Montgomery, Nashville, New Orleans, Orlando, Shreveport and Tampa).
2. SEC games on ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU and FSN: We will have national placements during SEC conference games. We will also have regional placements on the SEC Network and CSS.
3. Online with key college sports sites: SI.com, FOXsports.com and Rivals.com, with others still in negotiation.
For a preview of the broadcast creative, check out:

:15 (v1) -- LINK
:15 (v2) -- LINK
These spots will run through the football regular season, during the SEC Championship Game, and in SEC-related bowls (minus BCS and Cotton, since the Big 12 is involved).
I will keep you posted as the campaign continues to evolve, but know that Texas A&M will be on the national stage tomorrow.

I didn't think they could do they if they were still in the big 12

Gotta be honest here.... it's pretty cool to see somebody so happy to join the family.

We aren't perfect, but we're trying to be a good future member!
Also, A&M billboard and other media buys in Texas will awaken this state to the SEC. Will take some time, but in 10 years, a bunch of folks in a new state will like SEC football in new and intense ways.

Gotta like how A&M has embraced the SEC over the past 12 months or so - I'd be excited as well especially with all of the turmoil in the Big 12. Good stuff.

They just need to embrace Cheerleaders and do away with Yell Leaders..
Posted on 10/7/11 at 10:35 pm to Fireman17
Doing away with Yell Leaders would be doing away with about half of the tradition of the 12th Man.
Suggestions have been made (by anonymous online posters only) that cheerleaders be added to the sidelines along with the Yell Leaders, but it wouldn't add anything to the atmosphere of Kyle Field and I don't see the point.

AGREE! They stand out in the ad as well...just don't understand it. Just add a bunch of hot GIRL cheerleaders and they can keep that tradition but it just wouldn't look as bad.

I'd be all for having hot cheerleaders on the sideline for eye candy...Provided we removed their ability to speak. Kind of like watching a taylor swift music video, really good, on mute.

So the LSU/Florida game tomorrow is going to have a commercial for Texas A&M?
Aggies, you are trying too hard.
It's time alright...
And it's not time for Texas A&M to change the game.
This is the SEC.
You're not changing OUR game.
Assimilate into our conference.
Run those ads in Texas or when there's a game involving Texas A&M.
But quit trying to sell your university to the rest of us. Quit trying so hard to make friends.

We aren't trying to make friends you jackwad. It's called expanding your marketable value.

Final thought.. if they really wanted to show how they'll fit in with the rest of the "family" they should have showed clips of Bear Bryant roaming the sidelines at A&M and Bama, Sherrill at A&M and State and Fran at A&M and Bama. Or show clips from games against other SEC schools (though they'd have to go back 16 years to find the last game A&M won against a SEC team.)
But the rest of us don't care about your yell leaders, the 12th man, Kyle Field, "HOWDY" or any of the other crap unique to A&M.
Welcome to the conference. Now take a good look at South Carolina and Arkansas and assume the position.

While we share Bryant, Sherrill and (God forbid) Fran. They are a piece of A&Ms history but not what A&M is.
In 20 years do you think LSU will herald Les Miles?
Do you think Auburn will build a statue of Chizik and write scripts in their commercials for the next 50 years? No
Your arguments are as strong as your mothers moral values. Which is to say, little.

Here in the SEC schools only run ads during games where said school is actually playing. Because when your team isn't playing in the game, nobody wants to watch your damn propaganda film pimping your school.
Nobody gives a shite if you feel the need to announce you exist to the world.
Advertise on FX on Saturday during the A&M/Tx Tech game in Lubbock and keep that shite away from the LSU/Florida telecast.
The right time to run those ads was during the A&M/Arkansas game. Would have been a great distraction during the 2nd half from that meltdown.
Until 2012 or the Cotton Bowl (if you make it back), I don't want to see any goddamn A&M ads during an SEC telecast.
Unless you add Bear Bryant and Gene Stallings to the ads, which would make them cool. But only air the ad during Bama games. The Gumps would eat that shite up.

Good marketing. Really takes away some of the ghey.

This explains a lot about why Alabama has all those national titles and A&M has to run TV ads announcing they exist.

He's currently the winningest coach (more than 20 games coached) in LSU history and if he wins another natty in the next 5 years, I'm certain people will be heralding him in Baton Rouge for the next 50 years. We might even go Gump and build him a statue.

I didn't realize that anyone still watched commercials. Losers... all of you.
Posted on 10/8/11 at 12:57 pm to daboman of Aggieland
Good for you Ags cuz your current conference has cut you out of conference ads for the most part. On the Big XII ad during OU/TU game, the only things 'Aggie' you saw were two yell leaders at the beginning. No football, nothing. So frick them!
