On some of the clowns rumored to take Saban's place at LSU before Miles got the job..I'll start the list:
Spurrier
The clown at Cal
The clown at Iowa
The fired clown who was @ NC
Who else?

Jack Del Rio was a serious candidate

Petrino is one of the few that had a formal interview, but Skipper thought he was too cocky.
Spurrier wasn't a candidate because he had just signed on with USC like three weeks before Saban's Christmas press conferance.

Was Jimmy Johnson on the "list"?

Nutt was only a candidate in Jimmy Sexton's world.

It's truly unreal how some of you who are "fans" have no idea of the "truth"
Jack Del Rio was at the Orlando airport to meet Skip. JDR found out his NFL team may fire him just for interviewing and both parties went their separate ways. Never spoke about the job.
RC Slocum got a interview cause the First G Bush called Skip and asked LSU to interview him. Skip did but stated they wanted a "sitting" head coach but did call RC a true gentlemen
B Davis and a couple others (Ferentz and Erickson) were sent feelers but nothing ever happened
Miles and Petrino were the finalist. Skip was uncomfortable with Petrino. And has stated it more than once. Miles thought he was out after Okie St got rolled by OSU in the Alamo Bowl but he was really Skip's first and only choice
thanks and there is some truth for those who don't know anything

I'm certainly happy that we have Les and none of the people mentioned in this thread.

My main point is at one point he was a legit candidate, but his personality was the turn off.
I remember the Rant dissecting his coaching performance during Louisville's bowl game that year. Some people already assumed he would be the next LSU coach.

Their is a very remote possibility of those two switching jobs this year.
