I haven't heard much about this show, but saw a commercial for it over the weekend. I'll likely be checking it out since I love dinosaur-type shite. Also, Spielberg is behind it and hopefully has some input on it (although I was disappointed with Falling Skies), so that has me hopeful as well.

Here is the plot per Wiki:
quote:

The show begins in the year 2149, a time when all life on planet Earth is threatened with extinction (suggested in trailers to be due to dwindling worldwide air quality and overpopulation). In an effort to save the human race, scientists develop a time machine allowing people to travel 85 million years back in time to the middle of the Cretaceous period of prehistoric Earth. The Shannon family (father Jim, his wife Elisabeth, and their three children Josh, Maddy and Zoe) join the tenth pilgrimage of settlers to Terra Nova, the first human colony on the other side of the temporal doorway. However, they are unaware that the colony is in the middle of a group of carnivorous dinosaurs.

So it looks like they may have gone back that far intentionally. We'll see.

this could go either way. 50/50 depends alot on how literally you view things. I like fantasy but sometimes they just go way to far and turn someithing cool into total junk.

overpopulation

God damn it, this will never be a reason why humans are going extinct. Stupid writers. But I'll tune into this board for reviews. Its different at least.

Why the on Battlestar Galactica? I'm almost done with season 2 and love it. Is it gonna go to absolute shite? Wait, don't answer that.

I guess the producers of the show didn't do their homework. (So what else is new)

I'm sure scientists in the year 2149 would have done a little advanced research as well and would have been aware that Dinos were still alive and thriving in the middle Cretaceous at 85 million years ago. The mass extinction event didn't happen until the end of the Cretaceous at about 65 mya.

Why would you send people back in time to a period when T-Rex's and Raptors were known to have lived? (Well maybe so you could make a Jurassic Park inspired rip-off TV show)
