SEC SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
BRAD WING (Watch LSU Highlights)
Punter
LSU
6-3 • 184 • Fr. • Melbourne, Australia
• In his first game since the season-opener, Wing punted six times for a 48.7 average in LSU’s 47-21 win at West Virginia.
• All six of Wing’s punts were downed inside the 20-yard line. West Virginia’s started possessions at its own 3, 4, 5, 8, 10 and 11 yard line following Wing’s punts.
• None of Wing’s punts were returned.
• His long punt of 60 yards that went from LSU having the ball on its own 34 to pinning West Virginia inside its 5-yard line.
• Wing’s 66.67 percentage of punts (8-of-12) downed inside the 20-yard line this season leads the SEC.
• His 45.0 yard per punt average this season would be third in the SEC (does not meet NCAA/SEC minimum of 3.6 punts per game and minimum of games played).
• LSU is second in the SEC and 10th in the nation in net punting, averaging 42.26 yards per attempt. Teams have -11 punt return yards against LSU this season.

man i tell you what...... and I'm being serious on this...
Brad Wing has the accuracy of a qb throwing with his foot, almost. It was no accident those balls landed where they did. It was no luck. Could you see the spin on the balls? he's planting them inside the 5, with a backwards spin on purpose, so that if they are not caught, they dont bounce into the endzone.
He hasnt kicked a long punt yet with his left. The Oregon game was in the dome, and had the monster screen, so he went right footed. If we ever have to punt from our 25 or deeper, this dude will boom a 70 or 75 yarder like it's nothing.
His control is UNREAL. add to that Hairston has a gorilla leg, and our ST is going to be DOMINANT for years to come

Would be awesome if he never meets this requirement.

I think with the success of Wing, we may see the exploration of using rugby kickers by other college teams and perhaps even the NFL.

It's that Aussie rules football they play in Australia. If you ever have watched it, there's alot of kicking in the game.

Incredible..... during the game I told my son and my brother," its a big deal to see one punt downed inside the 5 yd. line, but to see 3???".
Man, one time a game can be a game changer, but to do what he does is every bit as valuable as an all american LB, .......

This is going to happen multiple times a game for the rest of his career. He's been doing this for years at Parkview. At first I thought it was a guy who has a monster leg. Now I realize he control the ball, and controls the spin on the ball.
Brad Wing may be our MVP vs Uf and Bama.
It is going to be a massive achievement to beat us when we crush you in field position battles.

He punted ever punt in the Oregon game with his left. He is a left footed punter.
He punted with his right in the spring game. You will never see him punt with his right foot unless he is injured.

Brad's dad referred to it as "passing the ball with his foot." Because that is what they do in Australian rules football...they pass the ball to each other with their feet.
He's a stud.

I think he's our "not so secret anymore" weapon right now, but a lot of this is also due to our outstanding punt coverage team including -SURPRISE - #7.
