Comedy Central had a show called Secret Girlfriend a while back. It was a guilty pleasure of mine, but only made it six episodes.
Best part of the show though was all the :boobs:

I preferred Secret Girlfriend back when it was called The First 5 Minutes of Every POV Porn

A show called Boomtown that actually starred Donnie Wahlberg in the lead. The way the story was told each week was really cool, they kept shifting the POV depending on the character.

Dirt (an FX show). Technically canceled after a 6-episode Season 2 because of the Writer's Strike .

Commander In Chief on ABC. Watched this when I was in high school. It had tons of potential and was going up and up. THe series ended too early for me IMO. It was not just about her being the first female president, it was also about the first independent president and how she would be elected over a republican and democrat. I was pissed when they cancelled this.
For those who don't know what show I'm talking about, maybe this'll help.

the already mentioned:
Firefly
Freaks and Geeks
2 others that got no love but were great:
American Gothic (was way too complicated for the audience of the time, but would succeed on HBO/Showtime/AMC today)
Cupid (Jeremy Piven was awesome in this show. dude was funny, and the show was one of the best written/acted/produced)

It was a cop show back in the late 90s called "High Incident" I think. I also loved Boomtown as earlier posted. That 80s show was a good concept that was poorly written.
