Olin Kreutz's effect on the Saints' gameplan against da Bears

Do you think he knowledge of the Bears O and Dline tendencies will help? Does he pass on this knowledge? I'd tend to think so.

the driveman was listening to the morning drive on 690 today and they had a bears beat guy on who said basically during the offseason they brought him in and offered him a deal and said "you have an hour to decide if you want to sign it or not"
he played there for over a decade and the last 6 or 7 for lovie. something tells me that's gonna be one pissed off skinny bitch on Sunday

Well, their O-line is completely different from when he was there. But I'm sure he knows Lovie's offensive tendencies well though. It won't hurt to have him.

That goes without saying.
But a lot of people credit Scott Fujita with the Browns be as effective when they came in last season. I'm wondering if those same people believe that Kreutz could have the same effect.

if we don't tackle better, it won't matter.

thanks for adding to this thread
it certainly won't hurt us, but i just don't see it making that big of a difference.

Olin Kreutz's affect on the nose tackle for da Bears...is what I would like to see.
As to your question I think these days the intel on other teams is so great that former players have little to offer any more.

Hopefully he doesn't get blown into the backfield on numerous occasions again.

I hope what happened to the Falcons is more Falcons failure than Bears forced.
after 1 week its impossible to see a trend. We should know a few series in to the game just how good this Bears D really is.

They are really good. If Nicks, Kreutz, and Evans don't get their shite together, Brees will have a long day.

I am more worried about Strief and Bushrod than those 3. I know Streif has had success against Peppers in the past, but that was also with a lot of help from a TE.

Kreutz concerns me way more than the other two as far as running goes. He was getting manhandled in GB. Almost all of the short yardage stops can be attributed to him getting pushed into the backfield.

The interior shite the bed against Green Bay. For as good as they are, it just seems like Nick and Evans take games off....Bushrod and Strief will be helped. I'm not too worried about that, plus if the interior is playing well, Brees is the best at stepping up in the pocket.
Now, the Dline needs to get to Cutler and contain Forte. Chicago's running game will be a big test for the D. And, given time, Cutler can make big plays. Now, the Falcons played a zone all game, but they were able to get to Cutler early, but fell off as the game progressed. I suspect some nice blitz packages in Cutler's future.

I agree, but Evans couldn't move Raji off the ball, at all. And Ryan Pickett looked like a stud over Nicks. Collectively, they played a bad game.

quite a bit of coverage about him in the Chicago press.
One worth a read called Kreutz's presence will be felt Sunday
some other thoughts-
Instead of trying to assign blame for a situation that disintegrated despite Kreutz making it clear he wanted to be a Bear for his entire career, we’ll simply point out that players in the locker room still aren’t happy.
“You know, he plays for our competitor so obviously he is our enemy,” linebacker Lance Briggs said. “It will be a little bittersweet. I am excited to compete against him, but at the same time we miss the guy.
“There aren’t many guys that just speak straight, call it as they see it, right down the pipe. That’s why I respect him so much. Not only for his play but for his leadership. He’s an asset to any team.”
The Bears figure it will be fun going against Kreutz because he owns such a sharp tongue.
“I am sure (you will see me laughing),” Briggs said. “When you see him sprint up to the ball like he does.”
Said nose tackle Anthony Adams: “I played against him before in San Fran. It’s going to be funny, man, because he knows all of the little tricks I do and I know all of the little tricks he does. You might see me smiling a lot. I am pretty sure there are going to be some words said. He knows all of our calls so he is going to be talking with (Brian) Urlacher and Briggs. It’s going to be crazy.
“We’re definitely going to have fun with it.”
Has Kreutz given Adams the business before?
“Especially my rookie year,” Adams said. “He’s always going to kill the rookies. It’s nothing that can be printed in a newspaper. Nothing you would want your children to repeat. It’s funny to me, man, because it’s a game. But this could be the funniest.”
Far above and beyond the humor for the players is the game itself. The Bears will look to disguise some of their looks. They will have changed calls, but Kreutz can tell what they’re doing before they do it based on the situation. He understands the individuals, too. Inside and out.
“He even knows your counter plays, a relative play,” Adams said. “If my favorite move is club/rip, I get a counter move off that. He knows that. He does different things and you can never really get a bead on him. I didn’t like going up against him in practice because you don’t play against a lot of guys like Olin, he’s one of a kind."
When you think about Kreutz and the leadership impact he had in the locker room, it’s interesting to wonder if there would have been so much noise for a Briggs contract in the last two weeks if Kreutz was still around. That’s not the kind of distraction he would have appreciated. That’s not saying there wouldn’t have been a story with Briggs, but it might not have lasted as long and it might have been more muted.

It is quite a testament that he was named a captain after being here for such a short time on such a veteran club.

Hope so. I'd say he will be jacked up like a bearcat for this game.

Really? You don't think this thing looks like it wants to rip your face off?

I think it'll help. He should know most of their defensive fronts and be able to call out protections for it.
