I know we talked about this a couple weeks ago but just wanted to get y'all opinions again. I have been having state farm for both car and home forever. After getting everything quoted out by agents, I will likely be going with imperial for homeowners and progressive for car.

Both are much cheaper for the same coverage. My question is what do I lose on? As far as making claims, I guess it could be slower in getting money. Just trying to get feedback if anyone has either of these

You get what you pay for. Good luck getting any claims paid.

Progressive is perfectly fine. I've had them forever.

Imperial is lower rated, but they should suffice.
I wouldn't put my house with imperial if it was over 300k. Otherwise it should be fine.

Where do u live? Is imperial really the best option?

I have had Progressive a long time for auto insurance. They have been unbelievable with any issue I have ever had. They handle things quickly. State Farm is ripping people off. I used to have them. I have USAA for home. They seem pretty good so far. I quoted USAA for Auto but Progressive beat them by around $800 per year. Progressive also sells homeowners. They are a good company but USAA beat them on homeowners. Get a quote from Progressive on Homeowners would be my advice.

Imperial will pay out, it will just take a little longer. If it is a storm like Katrina or Gustav, it will take a really long time. They don't nearly have enough adjusters to handle something like that. The adjusters they do have will be out of state independent adjusters and ones they hire and rush through training.

Read your policy, there will definitely be some things they don't cover you for that State Farm currently does. It will probably be coverages you don't care about, but just be aware.

Progressive is a good company. Good claims and good service. Steady rates.

I have ASI on house and Progressive on my car and my daughter's. Progressive has a program where they monitor your driving for 6 months and will give you a discount. I got about a 20% discount even though I'm a high mileage driver with a lead foot and I got at least 40% off her car because she lives within walking/biking distance of campus and her car sits in the parking lot most of the time. Worked out great! Also, no separate storm deductible on house for less than Shelter.
