Offsets are nice if you want to burn logs and need a lot of space for huge functions, but they require a ton of baby-sitting to make sure the temp is correct. The WSM is great for most people that only cook for a few people since they are pretty much set it and forget it. I can get up to 16 hour burns at 250 degrees with little to no baby-sitting on my WSM.

I have a WSM. For a good, cheaper smoker, I recommend a Brinkmann Gourmet Charcoal.
