That still won't work. To be able to that your DVR box still has to be on. Can't be on with no power.
But in answer to the original question about recording with no power, If you have AT&T U-verse you can. Set it to record now and you won't have any problems because it doesn't save on a local DVR box like Cox or EATEL.

going to fill up gas cans right now. i'm not missing this game. a tv will be on that generator before one other thing in the house receives electricity

if you have a satellite and the rain is heavy enough, it will be knocking the signal on and off all game.... not good.

I have Dish but I also have an antenna so I can pick up local stations if the Dish goes out. Game's on ABC so I'm covered, unless of course there is no power, or my antenna gets destroyed.
