re: JJ's 15 completions for only 100 yards in scrimmage is very troubling.

most of the other comments though, are coming from watching drills...which is about like speculating who is going to win the Master by watching players on the practice green.

You can tell if a QBs technique, foot work, and throwing motion have improved from watching drills, practices, scrimmages.

And then... if JJ has a great practice, all we hear on here is, "We heard that last off season. He sucks. He can't do it in a game."

And then... if JJ has a bad practice, all we hear is, "He sucks. He sucks so bad. I can't get my dildo out of my arse. He sucks."

You need to take EVERYTHING Les says in regards to scrimmage stats with a grain of salt. I'm pretty convinced that he basically just makes up the stats on the spot.

Stats came from Shea Dixon.

very true...however, while his mechanical issues have been well documented, that hasn't been his main problem from a production standpoint.

Shea wasn't at the scrimmage and received the stats from the LSU release, just like everyone else.

That's only 6.67 yards per completion

shite... at that rate we'd only get a first down every two plays!!!!!

actually, it was 100 yards per 25 attempts, so it'd take us 3 plays on average to get a first down.

True.

However, we got rid of the OC, and the offensive line should provide better pass protection this year.

Media is NOT allowed at practice. Dixon was probably just reporting the BS that LSu gives out.

Which came from the media conference after the scrimmage with Les.

Crowton leaving should be a huge boost to JJ, and pass blocking should be better...the question is has Kragthorpe improved pocket presence, instincts and reaction time. Those have been his biggest limitations.

Im just curious... If JJ isnt turning heads in practice/scrimmages......... Why should we believe he will do it in a game?

I mean he is a sr... is it too much to expect for him to shine during scrimmages?

Its very obvious after reading this thread,.. some here expect more out of him.. others pass it off as just a scrimmage game and people that take notice to his stats are stupid... .I again wonder why is it asking too much to see your SR STARTING QB be the lead man at a fall scrimmage?

IMO its just another excuse some of yo umake for him... Obv real games are what matters, but for a guy thats had a career like JJ has had.. I wouyldnt say he nesecarily a "proven" guy.

Randle had just 37 yards on five catches -- average of 7.4.

Yes, you can't read much into player performance from scrimmage stats. But combining JJ's and RR's stats leads me to believe that they worked on a lot of tight zone plays...with some specials for RR.

I know this has probably been said already, but I'm not going through eight pages.

The majority of this scrimmage took place in the red zone, which we were God-awful in passing last year. 15-25 sounds like an improvement to the debacle that was our red zone offense.

You're not going to rack up 300 yards passing when you only have 20 yards to work with. Come on people, stop complaining about every damn little thing.

The point is that you can't read into one stat (in this case, YPC) and determine whether a particular player had a good or bad practice. Just like we can't say, "Hey, he completed 60% of his passes. We're going to the 'Ship!"

IMO its just another excuse some of yo umake for him

What excuses? Have you ever played football? If so, you should understand scrimmages... It's not as if they play a real game simulation. They work on different aspects... like red zone offense. Third down offense... short yardage simulation... two minute drill... and they'll do these over and over again.

Should we be upset that our QBs threw for 300 yards against a defensive secondary that most of us regard as the best unit in the country? If you are, you don't understand scrimmages.
