Don't get me wrong, I could use the money. I was leased way back in the gold rush days when they first found gas here in Pointe Coupee, but the nearest well was about 3 miles. It was a hit that played out fast. With the new way they can drill, I'm sure they will come back in to drill.
I do have a blood sucker lawyer that has done many oil leases. He does know his way around from the first time oil companys came here.

I've talked to seveal land owners in the Eagle Ford and I've heard numbers from $2000 to $5000 per acre for unleased land near producing wells....

quote:I've always wondered how to interpret distance from a producing tract as a measure of how likely it is for the surrounding area to get leased, and at what rates. In O&G speak, how far is 3 miles?? Is it right around the corner or is it light years away? How does the new horizontal technology affect this proximity issue??
