Just brought home an adopted border collie and noticed it has some modest discharge in the corner of its eyes. Its been raised outdoors and is 8 months old. Any thoughts to the possible cause? Goes to the vet next week for a thorough checkup.

Thats normal. One of my dogs had this problem and my daughter fixed it by doing surgery on his eye lids.

Probably has a blocked tear duct. The vet will be able to open the duct up. If it isn't that, it may just be a little conjunctivitis, in which case the vet would simply rx an antibiotic and get it taken care of.

I wouldn't be overly concerned about it...could be anything from simple allergies up....just take the pup to the vet as you plan and see what the deal is...

could be allergies like someone else said, one of my dogs gets this with certain types of food. Alot of the cheap foods have grains that dogs are allergic to, like corn as the main ingredient instead of meat.
