Has anyone received an email about a 15lb 6oz speckle trout that was caught in Cocodrie? Email says it is an unofficial record and unconfirmed. The picture looks big but it is hard to tell if it is actually 15lbs. Just wondering if this is real or just another fake record.

Yep fake. My boss got it on wednesday in an email and was freaking out. He is big with bayou chapter CCA and made a few phone calls and was disappointed when he learned it was a fake.

I got news--there are no trout even close to that big that swim around Cocodrie. I'd like to see the pic anyway unless it is the one of John Solari claiming to be caught at Mardi Gras rigs.

jason

you hear of that one back in the 90s caught by a gill netter near venice?

would have smashed the state record.

This is the one I was talking about, so if the OP was referring to a different fish, apologies on my fault.

I don't have the email but this one was taken out on the water and you can see a shore line in the background. It isn't the pick on land near the stairs.

My dad had two on his seafood dock in Venice during that time period that was around 14-15lbs (was weighed on the dock's certified scale) each that was caught in a gill net. He called it in and they said there has been a lot bigger caught in Texas with gill nets. You remember how big the one you are talking about was?

It gets bigger everytime someone starts the same thread about it.

If and when I get the e-mail, I'm forwarding it but changing the weight to 131 lbs... slightly bigger than the new blue cat record.

The one I have you can see the shoreline in the background also. The guy is wearing a black hat and sunglasses with a white tshirt and he has a grayish gotee.

The story is complete BS. That's Shane Pescay from Team Academy Sports + Outdoors...He caught that near Rockport TX while pre-fishing for the Corpus HT Redfish Cup a few weeks ago. His partner is Capt. Charlie Thomason, Charlie posted that pic on his Facebook page after Shane caught it. The trout in the picture went 34" 10-11 Lbs.

Yep that's it. I figured it was 10lbs plus but did't quite look 15lbs but with angle photography (and manipulating distance and angle) it's hard to tell what a fish actually weighs.

They caught several trout over 25" that day. They had a 33" fish right before this one.
