(they will break the lockout just so Alabama can show how superior they are to the Patriots), what should we be happy with? What at large birth BCS bowl will invite us? The Rose finally?

if a team from the SEC plays for the title, then the at-large team plays in the Sugar Bowl

I understand but expectations are always to win the national title. I think everyone can agree that Bama is severely overhyped again. Good football team, but replacing your leaders on offense in McElroy, Ingram, and Julio Jones will not be a simple task. Especially considering the QB that starts have only limited SEC gametime experience and will be a soph or freshman. Just relax and let the season play out. Bama will lose 3 again, then Saban will bolt, cause the Redneck Delusionists will certainly forget about that title from 09 and run him out of town, circa Gene Stallings mid 90s.

I think Bama's pretty overrrated as usual. Losing Dareus, Jones, Ingram, Carpenter, and McElroy is going to hurt more than they think.
O-line's going to be good but it all hangs on McCarron and he looks like he could break in half.
Personally I think we take first in the west making it to the NC game and they get 2nd probably making it to the Sugar Bowl.

apparently this poster is unaware that every single year, some team is picked #1 to start the season. But since its a team he doesn't like or disagrees with their ranking, he starts a thread to voice his disagreement. Sadly, he can not express himself with out some whiny over exaggeration. There is agood chance he is among tha masses that cry bias any time the media says something he disagrees with about his team, but fails to graps the irony that his view is the most biased.

Interesting that other teams losing key guys = them being over rated, but losing Nevis, Sheppard, Peterson, Barksdale etc is no big deal for LSU, right?
Bama is loaded, they have 9 guys back on D. Richardson is at worst close enough to Ingram that its an insignificant drop off and all they ask the QB to do is not frick up. Will they win the NC? Who knows, but they have as good a chance as anyone.

That depends on who the loss is to and under what circumstances. If BAMA loses to Kent St., N. Texas, Vandy, GA Southern, or a 1-8 Miss St club, his bags will be packed.
If he blows another huge lead against AU, he'll wish his bags were already packed.

Bama has lost all of 3 regular season games in the last 3 years, yet we've got the usual count on here crying about them being overrated. Like you said, somebody's got to be number 1. Bama's as good a prediction as any. With their recent track record, they're probably better than most. If not all. But nobody's handing them the trophy in July.

I think you make some great points, but you really have to look at who is replacing these players leaving and the level of production while at the school.
To me, Bama's losses are more significant than LSU's losses because of this. You didn't see another LT behind James Carpenter come in and play last year for Bama. Unfortunately, Douglass passed away and now they moved a RG to play LT or will have to rely on a TRUE Freshman. That could be a major issue. We saw someone behind JB78 come in at LSU in Chris Faulk and play well. Without Julio, the top 2 WRs at Bama are now under 6 feet and not exactly going to demand double teams like Julio, which could impact both phases of offense. The biggest issue is the QB is going to be a soph with no meaningful snaps in the SEC. On the DLine at Bama, behind Dareus, we saw 1 guy come in and play outstanding last year in Sentimore. Unfortunately, he has been kicked him off the team along with projected rotation guy Brandon Moore. I have a Bama friend and outside of QB, he is really worried about their DLine after the 1s. At LSU, I agree on some concern at inexperience at MLB, DT, and of course QB, but Bama doesn't come without questions as well; specifically DLine, LT, WR, and QB.
I am in no way devaluing Bama's potential, but only saying both teams are no doubt stacked and should be preseason top 5. The LSU faithful are sick of hearing about how much better Bama is than everyone else when they also have questions, most on offense. And LSU fans have certainly seen a NS coached team with inexperienced offense in 2004. What's lost in this is this will be NS first team at Bama without a QB that is at least a junior. I think that hurts them a few times this year. But I also think the same issue hurts LSU a few times this year as well. The above mentioned items are issues at Bama and for that IMO does not separate them from any other top 10 team IMO. The NCAA is wide open this year, with OU looking to be the team to beat. They are the most complete top to bottom.

Pretty much every poll I've seen has LSU in the top 5, so I don't think that's the issue. The 2nd part of your statement is the important point. In a lot of cases people hear what they want to hear (just look at the OP). While there is no doubt, some commentator or writer or blogger somewhere that has over state Bama's strenght and undervalued LSU, some people take that is the majority view, instead of what it is, which is one guy's opinion. Most rational (which is the vast majority) of outlets are putting Bama ahead of LSU primarially because we play them at Bama and to a lesser extent because they rate Saban as a better coach. At this point in time, Bama is kind of the default preseason #1. By that I mean if there is no clear cut dominant team, they get it. A few years ago it was USC, before that Miam, Fla State, Nebraska etc. While it can be annoying, it doesn't matter for LSU, since we play them.
You make some great points. I don't follow Bama as closely so I don't know much about their replacements, especially depth on the lines. The QB will be a problem if he really sucks or if they need to pass to win a game, which is very possible. I just find it interesting that a lot of LSU fans upset about Bama being ranked high ignore or gloss over our loses and questions about our QB. In any event, as Hot Carl pointed out, some one predicting Bama to win the NC is not handing them the title in July. From LSU's perspective, it doesn't matter that Bama starts ahead of us, since we get to play them.

I 100% agree with this, I'd rank OU #1. Most other teams, including LSU and Bama have questions.

Who is saying these things? I have not seen anything remotely suggesting about "how much better Bama is than everyone else." Just because they are ranked #1 in a couple of preseason polls does not mean that everyone thinks they are far and away better than everybody. Surely you are smart enough to understand this.
