If that's the case, then offer Jones now. Let's get Collins in ASAP.

Phillips is gonzo. I know there is a lot of time left, but this is one of those kids that just wants to leave home for college.

Is Debo really tight with Collins? I didn't think LSU would do package deals.

They don't, but the kid is right there, as far as talent. Its just a bonus that he is tight with Collins.

So it's not like a Phillips type deal with the CB on his team. The kid is actually legit, the Debo kid.

Debo isnt a slouch, hes a stud himself. But yes, Dwayne Thomas, Debo Jones, and Landon Collins are all best friends and have been most all of thier lives, and I think thats what pushes Debo ahead of Otha. Besides, Debo has picked up about all the same offers that Otha has this spring and summer, is faster, and has room to add more weight.

Yamamma,

So do u think they take two more true LBs this class? Otha and Deion Jones? Who would you take first- Otha or Debo? What about Richie Brown? What do you think happens when we win big and Lorenzo Phillips decides he wants to switch to LSU?

Anybody else's opinion would be appreciated as well

i think they take richie brown and they are done.

I don't think they take debo for collins. They don't play that way. They want collins, they recruite collins. If debo is a player and they he think can contribute, then they take debo. collins has nothing to do with debo or vice versa.

I think they take Debo, because he's that talented. Kid has size at 6'1 215, and runs a 4.45. They may look at him at Safety, but Chavis will probably move him to OLB, or MLB, depending on his coverage skills, weight gain. Kid had 118 takles last year, got to think he's going to be the replacement for Phillips with that speed. Camp will decide this, however.

Coaches don't think like that.

I think they take both Debo and Otha because I think they are both guys we cant afford to not take at LB when its probably the least talented position on our team. Thats my opinion. Debo will no doubt help with Collins

If they take one I think Debo shows out and flys around the field and gets the offer. They obviously werent blown away with Otha because they didnt offer, and they told him they were taking 3 LBs and they already have 3.. Yet they still really wanna see Debo at camp on the 16th. Take that FWIW

I actually respect Phillips for being confident enough in his decision to go public with it early. Allows other kids time to get to camp at LSU and have a chance to fill that spot. Wish he would have chosen LSU, but seemingly he took a mature route with his process.

committing to two schools in three months doesn't show maturity. i'm happy he's don and done early so lsu didn't wast their time on him. lsu will be fine. i think people have gotten way to bent out of shape with him leaving the state. it's really no big deal. there are as good or better players out there that can and will fill his shoes.

Do you mean his 1st commitment or the 2nd?? There is nothing mature about the way Lorenzo Phillips is handling his recruitment. Aside from his 2 commitments, Phillips is also attempting to play hard ball with schools and only offer himself as part of a package deal with Trevon Stewart, his teammate who isn't necessarily SEC talent.

Sorry about that. I wasn't aware that Florida was his 2nd commitment. Hopefully this is it for him, at least from a LSU standpoint.

He can play hardball all he wants, but UF doesn't have room for his teammate. We don't do package deals unless it's deserved.

Very warm recent stats:
6' 2" 218#
4.47 turf 40 (twice)
4.18 5-10-5 (SEC timed)

313 tackles in 2 years at MLB in 5A MS (162 as Soph)

Coaches know... and don't do packages.
