Haye v. Klitschko - This Saturday, July 2

Who here is as excited about the fight on Saturday as I am? I've been waiting on it for quite some time now. This could be the next step toward unifying the Heavyweight title again if Haye wins.
The pre-fight press conference was this morning. They seem ready to tear each other apart.
the stare down
''You are going to see the most brutal execution of a boxer.''

Nah just standard HBO! I'm so excited started one thread about the fight and now commented in two others. Woot.

Most likely. Not sure though. I think I will try to see if the Fox & Hound has it.

Under card doesn't look that great.
Cruiserweight Ola Afolabi Vs Terry Dunstan
Bantamweight Ashley Sexton Vs Mike Robinson
Light welterweight Gabor Veto Vs James Kimori
Light middleweight Tony Harrison Vs Artur Umarov
Middleweight Ryan Aston Vs ????
Yes, the fight is in Germany.
Lineis roughly 2-1 in favor of Wlad.

I still like Haye. I take him in 9.

No way in hell Haye wins, but it's good that people actually think he has a chance. Great marketing on his part.
Klits fight in Germany if it's not at MSG. Germany is kind of their adopted home. I think they split time between LA and Hamburg.

I just have never been impressed by the Klitschkos. Never had a decent opponent, minus Vitali being destroyed by Lewis. Haye is just such an athlete, and I really think he can win. He has the swagger than a Heavyweight champ needs.

I did like the expression on Vitali's face during the staredown. He wasn't even mad. He was laughing. He knows Wlad has this on lock.
Before this Vitali would be jumping between the two and going after Haye.
Wlad looks dangerous and mean for once.

Yeah, but I liked how he was still admitting that this is the best Haye has ever looked. I would love to see him destroy both brothers then retire on top.

The Klitschko's are some of the best punchers to ever lace up gloves, and they are superior athletes. Their opponents are really no worse than Ali's bum of the month club. Heavyweight has always been a top heavy division with a two or three elite, a few quality, and a bunch of bums. Do they lack a true defining moment? Yes. Maybe this will be Wlad's. I doubt it.
It takes a lot more than swagger to be a champion. If Haye couldn't put Valuev to sleep and barely eeked out a decision, I don't see him doing well against the much better Klitschko.
Oh and I hardly think Lennox destroyed Vitali. He was getting his arse handed to him before the fight was stopped on cuts and then ducked a rematch for three years. He could have silenced all critics, but was afraid to get back in the ring.

The Klitschkos are definitely great punchers, but I don't think they are great boxers. They don't move and actually box. Their style works for them, but I think if Haye boxes with his slip and duck, he will win.
The reason he didn't knock out Valuev was because he outweighed him by nearly 100 pounds. That's damn near impossible to do.
Lewis did destroy Vitali. He pummeled his face so bad that he couldn't see. It was one of the worst boxing cuts I have ever seen. They had to stop the fight because his face was so bloody. That sounds like a solid beating to me. He won by a solid victory, and retired on top. It's not like he was fighting other people and dodging Vitali. Who could blame him?
Either way, this fight has people finally talking about the heavyweights, so I like it.

This is going to be a beatdown.
Haye has a glass jaw and a low gas tank. Wlad has said over and over that he will dominate Haye for 11 rounds and finish him in the 12th.....but I see Haye getting laid out before the 12th.

Really because they don't jump around they aren't great boxers? Wlad's punches are some of the most crisp and perfect punches I've ever seen. Each one is technically perfect and designed to inflict maximum punishment. There's a lot more to boxing than jumping around and bobbing and weaving. If I had a 6'6 fighter bobbing and weaving or moving too much I'd hit him in the head with a hammer to knock some sense into him. Boxing in ring generalship, controlling the space and pace of a fight. The Klits are masters of that. I think they are great boxers. They aren't flying in there trying to land haymakers. Heavyweights aren't middleweights.
If you truly think Lennox dominated his fight with Vitali I question how much you really know about boxing. Vitali took that fight on a couple of weeks notice and pushed Lennox around every round except one. That round Vitali got cut. It was a bad cut, but Lennox should have given him the rematch. They would have made a lot of money and there would have been a linear champion, but he ran into retirement. Of course, that didn't stop him from teasing a rematch for years.
