My neighbor took out his spotlight on a 12V battery and was spotlighting a treetop 50yds away with me. My spot I lit up was smaller, but just as bright. I'm impressed.

Yea definitely. Or just order the CREE k8 from thanksjhester's eBay link on the first page to save time, because you probably will once you read the whole thread anyway
ETA I ordered mine from this US seller instead, arrived in 3 days
I ended up using one of the CA dealers also. Was a few bucks cheaper and faster than getting the product from China. Only ordered one for right now. I went to the gunshow in S'port Saturday. One of the tables there was selling the same Cree flashlight we're all talking about, but his was marked $75!! I looked at it, listened to his spiel and told him how nice it looked. Didn't tell I'd ordered one from eBay the previous night for only $20...

ok, as far as the batteries... i fried one, it comes with a ultrafire2400mah battery 3.7 . model number 18650.
NOTE* if you search ultrafire 18650 battery on ebay you will get a bunch of options. i recommend bumping up to the 18650 3800mah 3.7. as it will last 1/4 longer than the stock 2400mah for under $3.00 shipped.

Appreciate the compliment pal. Just glad to help my fellow OBers. As for as the batteries go, if people would take a few minutes and read the thread discussing proper battery installation. It would save them alot of headache and cuss words

Alright, yesterday when I got the light both batteries had a charge, I put the first one on charger for about 2 hours and went play with it, it worked fine. The second battery had a charge, I put it on last night and forgot to take it off the charger this morning. I get back from work and take it off and that battery is dead. Is it just a bad battery, or will the charger kill them if you leave it too long?
Thanksjhester, how long do you charge yours typically?
Any idea what kind of battery this is? Lithium, NiCad? It's not labeled on it.
I'll probably just stick with one battery and buy a couple replacements if it dies, I keep a backup light in my hunting bag anyway.

I'm gonna order some more before the word gets out on these and the price goes up. But, it's definitely worth more than $20

Since you used your batteries the right way I'm going to guess it had a bad/ weak cell to begin with.

I just ordered two more. Quite the impressive flashlight.

I leave mine plugged up all the time and never had any issues. I feel bad now guys. Is all the bad batteries coming from same supplier or maybe just a bad batch?
Posted on 7/19/11 at 10:01 pm to thanksjhester
Nah I just think the batteries are hit and miss, mass produced Chinese crap. The flashlights work great. you can order a new battery for cheap, or there's the option of going to a battery store like a couple posters said, but I dunno how much those cost. You still come out way ahead compared to similar rechargeable flashlights by other manuacturers.

got mine in yesterday. made sure i put the battery in the right way. went out last night to try it out and it is bright. had to laugh when i was shining it around the property the first thing i saw was a coon in the tree about 50 yards away. well worth the $20.

"The UltraFire 18650 should never be charged for more than 24hours continuously."
