Just wondering if anyone has surf fished or crabbed Elmer's Island since it reopened after the spill? Considering going out there this weekend.

We kayaked out there one morning in mid may. Didn't catch a thing.

Neighbor limited out the evening before, although he had a boat.

Seems like if the front is calm then Elmers isn't a bad place to be if you have a boat and can move around a little.

So it IS reopened now? Last time we went down (about 2 months ago) the gates were still locked closed. I am going down this weekend and would love to fish Elmers Island!

I was there this past saturday. Surf was very rough. One good thing I saw was that the main road to the beach is now gravel. It used to be dirt/sand.

So are the gates open making it accessible by vehicle or is it only accessible by boat? I need to know this, we are heading down tonight, if its open I may plan this to be my morning fishing spot! somebody let a brotha know something

Be careful, it is easy to get stuck out there in the sand.

Did you even read my post? Yes elmers is accessible by vehicle. I took my Titan out there which is 2 wd. Just be careful if you take a 2 wd out there. Easy to get stuck.

I don't think so, the beach closes at sundown and they lock the gates......not sure if they force you to get out if you are there.
