Here are the picks of Skip Bayless and Rob Parker from yesterday on 1st & 10....

Skip Bayless:

1. Dwyane Wade
2. Dirk Nowitzki
3. Kobe Bryant
4. Kevin Durant
5. Carmelo Anthony

Rob Parker:

1. Dirk Nowitzki
2. Dwyane Wade
3. Derrick Rose
4. Kevin Durant
5. Zach Randolph

I am now thinking of applying for analyst job at ESPN, b/c those picks are ridiculous.

You can't have a top 5 list and leave James and Howard off it, and still expect to have credibility.

Nowitzki is a great player, but being #1 or #2 is simply a baseless knee jerk reaction to the finals. I don't think Anthony is a top 5 player (def top 10) and Zac Randolph being #5 is insanely laughable.

Thoughts?

Neither has LeBron James and the second guy doesn't have Kobe.

Those lists are dumb.

With the exception of Melo, those players are the ones that are credited with carrying the load for their team while the team for the most part met or exceeded post season expectations. Are they all the most skilled players in the league? Probably not, but I think top player is a bit ambiguous, just like is the MVP the best player in the league or the player that provides the most value to his team?

ZBo isn't top 5.

I love him, but he's just not.

durant had a bad offensive WCF against dallas like lebron had a bad offensive finals against dallas

and lebron's D is light year's ahead of durant's D

Well, MVP should be what player has the most value to his team; however the voters seem to think it means who the best player is.

The way I see it, when making a list for best NBA players, you have to imagine yourself the GM of a franchise having the 1st pick in a draft where all players are free agents. Who are you taking first? Second? Third?

1) James
2) Kobe
3) Durant
4) Howard
5) Wade

From what I've seen, LeBron dominates during the regular season. No questions asked. But when he gets in the playoffs, it's like he goes into a little shell. He quit on his team while he was in Cleveland, and this season it was like he was defferring to DWade and the rest of his team when he should've tried to take control. It also seemed like the Mavs wanted it (the ring and championship) a whole lot more this season.

Ridiculous. I don't even like Lebron but he should be number 1. Sure he didn't do great in the finals, but damn, not even top 5?

1. Lebron
2. Kobe
3. Wade
4. Howard
5. Dirk (this is sort of a homer pick lol)

Bron should be on everyone's top 5 list. It isn't even debatable IMO

Not really. He could have won the MVP this season. He might not be the best all-around player, but you can make an argument that he's the best player in the league right now.

LINK

PPG - 29.4
FG% - .452
FT% - .744
3P% - .301
RPG - 8.3
APG - 7.3

Those are his career playoff stats with the Cavs. If you compare those numbers with his regular season averages while he was with the Cavs, you'll notice that every stat is better during the playoffs, except for overall FG% and it's practically identical. He did this while playing on a team that, by themselves, couldn't win 15 games.

LINK

Playoff stats for James with the heat

PPG - 23.7
FG% - .466
FT% - .763
3P% - .353
RPG - 8.4
APG - 5.9

Statistically I can't understand all the hate this man is getting. Those stats would be welcomed on any team, not to mention, they are dragged down by one bad series, or else they'd look even more appealing. He killed it for the entire playoffs and even in Game 1 of the Finals. He has one bad series, and all of a sudden he's a bum who isn't a top 5 player to a majority of the nation. Gimme a break.

for this past year here is my semi-arbitrary list:

1) dwight howard - team lost in playoffs but it wasn't his fault... he probably couldn't have played any better... also great in the reg season as usual
2) dirk novitski - played better and better down the stretch... could argue for #1 slot
3) lebron james - outstanding till the finals - then ran away from the ball
4) rose - outstanding reg season, shut down by bron in playoffs
5) wade - played well most of finals, less well earlier in playoffs
6) kobe - just not a great year for him

I meant it's baseless moreso for Bayless and Parker. Especially since neither had James on the list at all and one of them didn't have Kobe. Plus Parker had Randolph.....need I say more?

This. Specifically why Rose wouldn't be ahead of James. LeBron owned his arse hard in that series when he guarded him.
