True, but what would the blackmail threat be? Mal Moore going to have a press conference to say he's gay? Not to mention Bama comes off looking atrocious if any of that gets out and potentially liable to a defamation claim.

Well, for one, we're finding out that Joe possibly contacted Candrea before Murphy. Murphy has said numerous times that one of the things he liked the most was that he was the first/last call. Maybe there were other things...
But, again, I placed no blame on Joe. Only said that he might have some egg on his face.

If you meant that he has egg on his face because he looks or may feel foolish for trusting any coach and taking him at his word in this time of everyone lying to everyone else, then I can concur
Folks having egg on one's face has nothing to do with fault, mistake or poor judgment.

They'll get over it. He'll say something about how he loved Tuscaloosa too much and couldn't leave there in it's time of need and all will be forgotten.

The problem here now is that LSU is rumored to have talked to Candrea. We DEFINITELY talked to Murphy. Tons of rumors saying that we talked to Glenn Murphy about possibly coming home, as well.
That means we have NO SHOT at a first-tier coach after being burned in this awkward situation.
We have to go 2nd rung, even after showing we'll pay to set the bar higher than anyone in the Sport.

The fact that they've shown they will pay might be the reason they won't have to go down a tier. Plenty of bigtime SB coaches out there wishing they could make over 200K.

maybe he secretly wanted the ULL job when it opens and would hate to have to leave LSU for ULL..
