The SOCOM II seems a bit overpriced. Does anyone have any experience with the FNAR as a viable and cheaper option?

I don't have any experience with that gun, but I have a FNH FNP 40 and love it. I've also shot a few other FNs and they are all badass. Underrated firearm manufacturer IMO.
FN SCAR-H is the tits.

Agreed. The SCAR is a little too pricey for me.

FN is made in the good ole USA FWIW.

I own a few FN guns. Excellent and high quality pieces. I have the 7.62 heavy barrel. It's extremely accurate. It doesn't have the accessory line as some others that I've seen but that's not a concern of mine.

aren't they like about the same price? I would go with the FN because it is designed to be what it is. the socoms are chopped down M1As which i hear have cycling problems because of that and frankly i think they look ugly with all the rails and shite on them. you get an M1A for a rifle. If you want a 16" carbine get an AR or AK or other carbine.

No matter what your wife tells you, you NEED a FN SCAR. The extra cost will be well worth it when the SHTF.

The SOCOM II's around here are about $2,000. I can get an FNAR for about $1,400.

I don't think you'll be disappointed with the FN if you choose that one. Especially if you aren't looking to add a bunch of ridiculous mods.
Are you looking at the 16" or 20" barrels on the FN?

I'm looking at the 16" barrel to basically use it as a ranch rifle. I'm planning to put a red dot scope on it.
