Indianapolis, at Lucas Oil Stadium from 2012-15. The Big Ten voted unanimously to have it there. Big Ten commissioner Jim Delany said...
quote:

"In order to establish ourselves and build a foundation, it's good idea to be indoors and see what we have," Delany said of the football title game. "The major factor was getting off to what I'd describe as a fair-weather start, getting it out there in the way it was predictable. ... Indianapolis has a unique ability to deliver turn-key events in a quality way."
Good move, Big Ten, good move.

Good. Either Indy or Chi was clearly the best options.

indy was the best option by far, imho

i assume it had the airport to handle the air travel, and a dome in that time of year is important

It's hosted the Final Four, so I'm gonna assume yes.

they've had the Final Four and are scheduled for the Super bowl. Airport should be fine for 2 B1G teams

Yep. Plus, since OSU will be in it every year and Cbus is only 3 hours away, it probably won't get used as much.

Indy and Nola are prob the best two mid market metros that can host a national sporting event.

So probably the only fanbases that would even use the airport would be PSU, Minny, and Nebraska.

seeing as all the teams in the conference have outdoor stadiums and play in the same climate, I don't think its necessarily a deal breaker, but certainly Indy with both a dome and being more or less in the middle is a better option

The airport in Indy is pretty spanking new. Not the biggest by any means...but VERY VERY nice and well thought-out. The layout makes it easy for both incoming and outgoing passengers. I flew there in July for a conference...the best airport I've been to by far.

That's in Kentucky. That's an SEC airport.
