Thanks to those that always recommend Parks and Recreation

I originally tried to watch the show when it came out in 2009. I couldn't stand it and I like Amy Poehler. B/c I kept reading on here about it I gave it another try. For the record, Ron Swanson may be my favorite sitcom character of all time.
Too many wonderful parts to name a favorite, but the first comes to mind is this...

I thought it was kind of slow when it first came out, but really hit its stride and is now one of my favorites.

I think this sentiment rings true for a lot of us about this show. My old roommate used to watch this show when it first started, and I never really gave it a chance (I just wasn't a fan of Amy Poehler at all). When I finally got around to watching more of it during season 2, I enjoyed the hell out of it.

exactly. However, I like Rob Lowe as an actor but I can't stand his character on Parks and Rec. I found Mark to be pretty boring before and they essentially replaced him with Chris who is a bit over the top imo. But Tom, Ron, & Chris are enough to keep me watching.

Yeah that plus I felt like they tried to be too much like the Office with the whole interview thing. But I agree, Swanson is hilarious and I've kinda grown into it.

This show was a spinoff of the office, thus the similar style. Initially it was going to be a 100% spinoff probably with the Karen character joining the parks department.
At some point they trashed that idea and just made all new characters but they kept the same style.

You sure about that? I never heard anything like that and I'm pretty sure she doesn't have the same name does she?

I said at some point they changed the characters but yes, it was originally a spinoff of the office that they kept tweaking until it was no longer a spinoff but they did keep the camera interview style.

Yea I didn't know either until I started a Mose thread a few weeks back, he also apparently ran the firejoemorgan.com site
