Supposedly they are edible and like Alx said the LADWF is pushing a campaign to get people to eat them. They are calling them silver fin to make them sound more appealing than carp. I will definitely try one if I ever get a chance.

Does anyone know if those fish can be caught with a fishing pole or do they just eat vegetation? They are really plentiful so if they do bite a lure/bait, it would make for a fun fishing trip
