NBA lane violations during FTs

Is it perfectly acceptable for players lined along the key to cross the line into the paint well before the ball has left the shooter's hands?

I replayed a few free-throws last night and paused at release. Players are routinely already in the paint but it didnt get called.

You also need to remember that if a player is in the lane early and his teammate misses it, it doesn't get called, just like if the opponent is in the lane early and the shooter makes it, it doesn't get called. If the opposite of these two scenarios happens, yes, it's supposed to be called and the shooter another free throw.

they used to call violations all the time when shaq took 20+ ft/game. he would miss the first 2 and then he'd get the extra one and miss that one too
