The only way I've ever drank it was strait. A good friend of the family got me a jar for my 21st bday. I remember when I was a kid we found a jar of it at the old homestead. Instead of drinking it, who knows how old it was, we poured it on the fire. Had a 20ft blue flame. It was beautiful

Drank some shine in NC back in the day – straight it was a little tough. I know my great uncle used to put cherries or peaches in it to cut the taste for the “ladies”
